Foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Kyiv of "intimidating the peaceful population of Russia"
do you get to claim that when your country instigates a full-on war?
A community for discussing events around the World
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Kyiv of "intimidating the peaceful population of Russia"
do you get to claim that when your country instigates a full-on war?
You’re assuming they admit to being the instigator.
which is absolutely hilarious. like the kid with their hand in the cookie jar claiming they have no idea whats goin on
It is merely special bakery extraction assignment. We are winning, commrad...... munch munch munch
What? No. I didn't eat cookie! It was pastry digestion operation. We are winning, comrad!
You’re not allowed to come here, it’s private property \s
Comrade, how can you forgets. Is special military operation, we are not the aggressor
What war? It's a special operation /s
Well, I think she's speaking the truth. Of all the Russians, those that are peaceful are probably pretty intimidated by the shooting in their vicinity.
Yeah, who do they think is killing the Ukrainians? It's the "peaceful" population of Russia.
Imagine if Prigozhin had waited until now for his ill-fated push to the Kremlin...
As I recall, he called it off after the Kremlin walked back whatever policy it was that pissed him off.
I seem to recall that arresting Gerasimov during a visit to Rostov-on-Don was part if the plan, and one of the generals next in line was friendly to Wagner so it would've created division in the ranks. But Shoigu got tipped off, the general backed out, and Prigozhin eventually realized without military backing he'd eventually lose
At least he has learned his lesson now. /s
Imagine if he had balls and actually did it back then
As they say in Breaking Bad: no half-measures. It got him murdered anyway, he should have gone all the way with a coup...
Prigozhin sobering up early is one of history's big disappointments.
Moscow or bust boys keep grabbing them by the balls and kicking them in the ass.
Seriously the media needs to use more words like these... "Penetration" , "Thrusting into" , "etc ....
It would just grate on 'ol Pootie so nicely.
Ukraine thrusts deep into Russia as Russia pushes back gently, but while whimpering quietly. Ukraine pulls russias hair and leans in close, whispering "take it all, whore"
I mean, Ukraine does not have the ability to hold anything or do a sustained push. It would be foolish to try.
Going in, destroying supplies and infrastructure, and then leaving is the smart move unless there are good choke points to hold.
Yeah, I hope that's the plan, otherwise they'll just lose everyone they sent over there. Go in, destroy a bunch of stuff and leave is the smart plan. It'll force Russia to keep substantial amounts of troops in Russia to avoid a repeat, shows they're weak and boosts morale in Ukraine.
Obviously, they can't go all the way to Moscow but Kursk or bust doesn't have the same ring to it.
Guys, guys, guys. I know a surefire way to get Ukrainian troops out of Russia immediately. Putin, call me.
Little more time and a little more progress, Ukraine will sort that call out to their own.
18.6 miles, y'all.
Fifty thousand dishwashers side by side
How many bananas?
Roughly 147,312 if laid end to end, 942,796 if laid side by side
Any good places to follow Ukraine conflict on Lemmy? Trying again to switch off Reddit…
Noncredibledefense has updates, but may not qualify as a "good place." Extremely meme focused.
But the info is so fresh! Newcomers beware... it's hard to tell what's info vs a random meme.
The Ukraine group on sopuli.xyz gets a lot of updates.
Not Lemmy but there's frequent updates at ISW, (Institute for the Study of War). Just google ISW Ukraine to get their report page.
lol
lmao even
September 22 starts Fall. Winter is coming.
Tell them not to get stuck in Russia. I hear it's bad strategy.
I know this applies to the French and to Germans, but does the rule hold for Ukrainians?
Putin is about to relocate to Siberia
The deeper they get, I imagine the more ammunition stashes they'll pass. I wonder how much they've been able to claim.
I would assume not much, it's an incursion. Meaning they don't have the infrastructure to ship it back. If they find any caches, they probably would take what they can use quickly, and destroy the rest.
That all makes sense. I saw today they have captured at least one tank which is nice.
They've penetrated two prepared defence lines which they may want to hunker down in later so shipping ammo back to those would be less hassle.
There's some talk of them potentially holding that gas plant to force Russia to destroy it to dislodge them too, cutting off gas to Hungary while making Russia the one that does it. Muuuaahahaha.
The whole thing is fascinating. Really looking forward to the Perun video on it which will hopefully be next week.
I love the photo. It screams.
"From Russia, with love."
This isn’t the meme where mist of the guard have gone to fight “over there” and so left like two guards for the place is it? Be funny if it was.
