Just a random liberal dropping by to say “Hi” and check out this community.
I just want to applaud You all for having thick skin; I was looking at all the different posts, and sooo many had sooo many down votes.
Downvotes bug the fuck out of me. How do You all deal with it so well ? Any tips / advice ?
Thx 🙏😊
As long as you agree, they will stay tolerant and non-violent. Otherwise…
Yes because down voting equals violent… Gosh people have become so soft.
Try getting out of the house. There is more to the world than downvoting people. I can’t believe you actually thought of downvoting as a real human interaction.
Uh, I’m not the one who considers it a big deal. You are the one complaining about it and how cruel the left is to y’all. I’m just chillin’ on the toilet.
I clearly said I don’t care. I think it’s more humorous that the impotent power of the left is downvoting.
Equating down voting to violence sure does make you sound like you care but what do I know.
Never made that comparison.
That’s not really respectful.
I’ve been told that conservatives are respectful people but the left aren’t.
It’s descriptive.
But as typical, you resort to sophistry to “win” an argument rather than discovering truth.
I’m not trying to win anything, someone just told me that before.
I’m really amused by the downvotes on my comment though!
Downvoting is symptom Liberal intolerance, Theroux was at least honest about your intolerance.
Y’all are coping hard. It’s a down vote. It’s the equivalent of me telling you in person that I don’t agree with your opinion on such and such topic. Stop acting like if someone downvotes you then proves that they also want burn your house down or something. And as a reminder, I can almost guarantee you that the majority of Lemmy is left leaning people so of course conservatives are going to get majority downvoted. Nothing wrong with that. I’m happy y’all are here and I hope that critiques y’all get will encourage y’all to produce well thought out content and not low effort click bait. And that goes both ways. But ultimately, crying about downvotes is weak sauce man.
Your whole straw man argument is about downvotes, not the person that said conservatives are not welcome.
Im just blown away at the fact you’re so upset about downvotes and someone saying they downvoted you because ‘you aren’t welcome’. Just like my “straw man” point stated above; that is the equivalent of someone disagreeing with you or not wanting to participate in a conversation that they view as “wrong”.
Not everyone who disagrees with you is obligated to get into a full blown debate mode in order to have the privilege to downvote. If everyone did that then you would probably complain that you’re getting invaded or something silly.
Ultimately if you like or agree with something then up vote and if you don’t like or disagree then downvote. Seems pretty fair to me. And please don’t come at me and say ‘just ignore the post’. That’s weak sauce attitude and I ain’t interested in that.
You’re really stuck on the diwnvotes, nobody else is. Is liberal ideology so fragile that you can’t bear to see different viewpoints?
Let’s get this abundantly clear.
I believe upvotes and downvotes are used to show if you like or disagree/ agree or disagree with something.
You believe downvotes are a symptom of liberal intolerance.
Which belief sounds more fragile to you?
Once again you are the one obsessed with upvotes and down votes, not me. I’m just pointing how intolerant the left is.
Tolerance is a social contract. If you fail to be tolerant then the contract no longer protects you.
That’s not an injustice like you seem to be implying.
That makes zero sense. The social contract is about the government and the people. The only people who are intolerant are the liberals. I am a very tolerant person.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_contract
In moral and political philosophy, the social contract is an idea, theory or model that usually, although not always, concerns the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual.
I’m aware, that is one of the applications of the concept. Which is why I said it was “a social contract”, as in it is a kind of unwritten rule of society, as in “an implicit agreement among the members of a society to cooperate for social benefits”.
Try to keep up. Stop trying to control the language of others.
Funny, only my republican side of the family is homophobic/transphobic. The rest are accepting. You have it backwards.
Is it tolerant to repeatedly call Democrats (and Republicans) Nazis?
Is it wrong to call a bird a bird ?
Answer my question first and I’ll give you the same respect by answering that one.
I gave you the answer.
No, you said you felt it was honest but you didn’t answer the question if it was tolerant or not.
