Explanation: In WW1, Austro-Hungary started shit with Serbia, and then dragged Germany into a war against the supermassive Triple Entente alliance consisting of the UK, France, and Russia. Germany and Austria lost that war.

In WW2, Hitler, an Austrian, took control of Germany and then started shit with most of the world, and then blew his brains out at the end of the war when he realized that Germany was no match for the entire rest of the fucking world.

    IT’S ALWAYS AUSTRIA’S FAULT

The following is not meant as a rant but an supplement to the simplifications of this meme.
While not completely wrong this explanation fails to consider:

      • Wilhelm II deliberately destroying Bismarck’s treaty system (which isolated France). Leading to Germany’s relative isolation.
      • Germany granting Austria-Hungary the Blank Cheque after the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand, fully aware that Habsburg’s attack on Serbia would lead to the mobilisation of Russian forces.
      • and most importantly: Germans committing war crimes in both world wars.

The greatest act of public relations ever was Austria convincing the world that Hitler was German and that Beethoven was Austrian.

and then started shit with most of the world,

I mean, I guess the British and French colonial empires and the Soviet Union did constitute more than 50% of the world, but still let’s be fair; that’s more due to European imperialism than Nazi Germany having a particularly long list of enemies.

I mean, Nazi Germany did have a long list of enemies too, even though the UK, France, the US, and the Soviets were the main players.

Regardless, if one looks at “Side which controls most of the resources of the world” and says “Yeah, time to pick a fight”, one may want to prepare for an unsurprising outcome.
