would a federated open source d&d universe ever be reality? like have a whole world that is created by contributors, similar to openstreetmap (but not irl obviously)
i was thinking more of like something that’s an ever changing world where other campaigns would affect and change the landscape i dunno how hard it would be to make it troll proof though :/
Isn’t that more of a license under which games can be developed than a game unto itself? Or did I misunderstand? Also, I want it to be managed by the community, not some law firm.
Hot take: the governor should take D&D and give its rights to a non-profit to be managed for the benefit of the community and its employees.

just early morning pondering :P
I could get into that.
Pathfinder might be a good basis for this
I thought the big SecondLife trend was going to do that.
Let’s just make an SCP tabletop
That’s essentially what the ORC License does. Paizo wrote it, but then gave it to a law firm that represents several developers so no one RPG owns it.

Yes, it’s a license. But nothing is to stop you for making your own free community-driven game under that license.
