I don’t think there is but at the same time I think an over reliance on the sanctity of neutrality benefits those who lie and misinform (ie current right wing news/media control political machine)
yes very true, but please don’t do that, lol. do it here —> !politicalhumor@lemmy.world

I don’t really know which journals are good/bad beyond the big names ones, nature, plos, elsevier, etc.
You won’t be banned for posting journal links. The only time that would happen was if it happened continuously and had a pattern and multiple reports. I don’t think there has ever been a permanent ban here.
Id recommend looking up your topic in a big name journal just to play it safe. Better science, less misinformation.
I’d like to build/find a list of the best journals to add to the sidebar.
One must delete facebook and lawyer up before one can ascend to the realm of #4. Profit.
good idea. I’ll add these to an unacceptable source list in the sidebar. Most of the reports have come from posts like that so I think a majority of people would agree with limiting posts from them.
I completely agree.
I liked askhistorians, as I felt like the moderation added to the quality a lot, but /r/science never seemed to achieve that level of quality. Though when they did start with the heavy moderation/clear rules with tags (I think flair was a later addition) it was a marked improvement off what it was before.
I’m open to suggestions, and I’ll just leave the draft rules up for awhile to get feedback.
Project 2025?
I pinned this. I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do or not, but I feel like being impartial is a trait honored only by the left and not the right, and look at where that’s gotten us as a country.
Perhaps it’s time to say to hell with impartiality, and call out poor policy for what it is. Wherever and whenever.
I don’t think that would be statistically significant. Exit polls are pretty accurate, and I don’t think anyone can deny Trump won in a landslide. Not that I’m happy about that. </democracy>
Damn it does. I mean giving everyone options to choose career and tech schools in lieu of public schools could actually improve education, but everything else there seems terrible.
You’re likely eligible for your states Medicare subsidies. Democrats fixed the family glitch in 2022, so you’ll likely save thousands switching off your employer plan, even if you’re making low six figures.
Of course those subsidies expire in 2025, and there is a snowballs chance in hell of those getting renewed now.
Democrats did a lot of things to improve the lives of working class, at least as much as they could get pass the Republican house.
Their problem is messaging. They are terrible at communicating what they’re doing, and how it’s going to help. I mean part of that problem is the media (ie fox news) is allowed to lie and Dems try to tell the truth. The playing field is not really level.
If America gets that bad
See the years 2017-2021… I don’t think the next 4 years are gonna be all that swell. Last time over a million US citizens died. I think they’re gonna pump those numbers up this go around.
I saw someone comment that it would ‘get rid of’ the dept of education. Is that actually what it says or would it just weaken it?
He has stated he will be a dictator. The Senate flipped Republican and there is a good chance the house will too.
With total control of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, all they have to do is repeal the filibuster (very easy), and they have complete unchecked control.
They will obviously start with things that are not as bad, but they’re not going to want to give up their power, and in 2 years there is a zero percent chance elections will be held democratically. They might appear democratic, but they’ll resemble “elections” in Russia.
The most important and serious one not on the list is that democracy no longer exists in the US. I would be very surprised if people are allowed to vote in 2026.
He will be a dictator day one (actual quote), and dictators don’t typically stop dictating once they feel the power.
I honestly think he’s going to be worse than Hitler. A lot can change over the next 10 years.
That part took 10 years to evolve. He was elected in 1933, he wasn’t out of the picture until 1945.
12 years of evolving fascism, it’s an exponential curve.
That’s a really precise breakdown and appears to hit the nail on the head.
What would be the most effective strategy to wake them up to the new political realities? Because I don’t think even this election did that.
