I understand. I throw obscene amounts of money at the cash black hole that is rent. I understand entirely how people think that people who make money simply by sitting on assets they own and otherwise provide nothing to society should be, ahem, obliterated. I just think it’s still possible to obliterate them with regulations instead of actual murder.
power doesn’t just fucking let you do whatever you want.
No, but power can be subverted. Maybe I’m hopelessly optimistic, but I think there’s still a non-violent solution.
I get the violent rhetoric, I really do. But, at the same time, I can’t help but feel like more people would be more amenable to social reform that benefits the little guy to the mere detriment of the rich, rather than murdering them horribly. I could be wrong, but doesn’t history teach us that violent revolution more often just begets more violence than actually solves problems?
Hmm. I made no effort to advertise at all. I came during the Rexodus last year after the API kerfuffle. Initially, it seemed promising, and I didn’t think I’d need to, but activity died down quite quickly. I’ve never moderated a community before or anything like that. I certainly don’t want to it to become a full time job. I have enough of those.
Welcome!
Welcome to the club!
To everyone saying that someone has already said what they want to say: post anyway. You’d be surprised how significant tiny differences in perspective can be.
I did. There’s almost zero engagement. My most popular thread is a meta narrative about me being in there talking to myself. There were at least two other attempts that are even more inactive. Not enough of y’all are into synthesizers.
At 198cm (6’6") and 111kg (245lbs) BMI states that I’m on the high end of “overweight”. My waist is 96cm (38"), which makes my RFM “average”. I like that better.
I haven’t exactly been to a large number of big concerts in my life, but still I have to say that Weird Al’s was the best. It was late 90s. He played every one of his hits in costume and nailed it every time. For the finale, he buried the front rows (I was in row 2) in fake bubble snow while playing Christmas at Ground Zero. It was gloriously ridiculous. 10/10 experience. Hardest working man in showbiz. UHF was a documentary. (I still haven’t seen the new movie. I really should get on that.)
There’s a Julia Donaldson - Axel Scheffler children’s book called “Charlie Cook’s Favorite Book” in which the sound a frog makes is “reddit”.
I think you’ll notice both of those places have very low birth rates these days. Almost like people don’t enjoy being crammed in like sardines and having to compete in the workplace like rats fighting over the last rotting morsels.
Not in the books, it isn’t.
Mine still exists, but no one posts there much. Including me. https://lemm.ee/c/synthesizers
Not for science fiction literature, guitar pedals, and synthesizers which was primarily what I went to Reddit for in the first place. There was some effort to get those communities going here back during the mass migration here from Reddit, but they’ve never really thrived. It sucks, but I’m not going back. I take a peek at r/synthesizers on occasion, and really it’s just a gaggle of self-promoting synthtubers and umpteen iterations of “what should I buy?”.
Beetlecrab Audio Tempera is the most inspiring electronic musical instrument I own. I got it in April, and I’m still finding new ways to use it. It does so much.
Oxi One really is the hardware sequencer to rule them all. Though I’m sure you could get by with a Hapax or Deluge if you don’t mind spending twice as much.
Not a purchase, but Csound has always been an invaluable companion to my music making process. It’s also entirely free and open-source.
squirreled
It’s the longest one-syllable word last time I checked. Pretty ridiculous that it is one syllable honestly.
I think they mean “gastroentomology”.
Tee hee hee.
Not mine, but a friend of my dad’s would talk about the time he was an “asshole bagger”. He worked in a slaughterhouse, and his job was to cut a circle around the anus and pull up all the bits that might have poop in them and bag them up. He lasted a day.
