I never said it wasn’t a shitty system. Just that 900 bucks over the course of 5 years is not an unfathomably amount of money to pay for something. I’ve spent more than 900 on a single car repair several times in my life. Unless they have been living in abject poverty I just don’t see how they couldn’t have paid it off by now. Median American income for a household is 80k. Yeah they aren’t living in luxury but they can afford the occasional expense.

  • Why do you chucklefucks always assume that anyone who says they believe in free speech must want to call people slurs.

I believe that a person should legally be allowed to say whatever they want. You cannot start picking and choosing what counts as free speech or not so yes unfortunately that means words you don’t like are included. And yes as you pointed out freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences.

The blue collar dad that wants to misgender trans people all day cannot be LEGALLY punished the same way I don’t think anyone should be punished for speaking out however much they wish about whatever politicians or political powers they disagree with. Family and society can shun them, but the government cannot legally punish them for expressing their opinions no matter how much you dislike them. Because even though you can’t imagine it right now for some reason YOU might be the person who is standing their ground and saying what they believe in, but now your ideals are illegal so sorry jail time for you. You got rid of freedom of speech and now the powers that be have flipped so you’re opinions are illegal.

I do not understand why this line of thinking is so difficult for some people to wrap their minds around. In China you cannot speak out against Xi Jinping. You can’t even mention certain atrocious their government has committed like tiananmen square. THAT is the consequence of not having free free speech.

I’m literally fighting or your right to be able to speak out against anyone you feel morally obligated to do so regardless if I agree with you or not. I cannot understand how you would want to take that away from yourself.

  • If your house was built after 2000 (or has updated wiring) you might wanna look into Ethernet over power. The kits are usually less than 50 bucks (depending on the speeds you’re using) and they allow you to hardline your computer without running a cable across the entire house.

The way they work is by plugging a parent box directly into the wall near your router you can run a short Ethernet to the box and then plug in the sister box near your gaming rig and run another short Ethernet from the wall to your computer. It basically just uses the copper wires of the house wiring to transfer the data.

There are some exceptions to be aware of. If you have a particularly large house the speeds might suffer over a long enough run. Or if they have the internet on an entirely different breaker panel it won’t work.

I am currently using one at my house. The wire gives me better ping, but slightly lower total download speed. So if I’m downloading a big game or something I’ll just unplug the Ethernet at let it download faster over wifi and then I switch back to wired for gaming.

  • My extended family is German and British. I am well aware how the gypsies are thought of by many over there.

I have lost track of how many times I have brought up gypsies when they are taking about how racist Americans are and then suddenly “it’s different”. They literally don’t even look at it the same way. That’s some wild shit.

  • Sadly I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. The unfortunate reality is that both forms of extremism tend to slowly pull at people from the center over time. Even if we got a group of moderates around someone would get mad and get pushed one way or another more. And thus the cycle repeats.

It’s the classic “what radicalized you” meme. All of us are extremists in one way or another. We just haven’t had something push us over the edge yet.

  • We ended our slavery (aside from the prison industrial complex, but that’s kinda a different animal to “traditional” slavery) over 100 years ago. There are still many places in the world with slavery today that people seem less interested in talking about than our historical slavery.

I’m not trying to downplay our history but we can’t exactly change the past. But we can put eyes on the current slavery going on but we often don’t because people are still focusing on our old slavery. There’s a real “America bad” boner on the Internet and it’s always a little funny to me. Like yeah we are far from perfect, but it’s a little weird to be shitting on us for something we ultimately stopped doing while other places are still actively doing it.

  • I got sorta yelled at on here for “only attacking the left” and I was like… I can’t attack people who aren’t around now can I?

I have seen like one or two "right"comments in the sea of lefty circle jerkin that’s permeated this entire site. It really is as abundant as oxygen around these parts.

I’m still gonna stick around and attempt to engage in meaningful discussions from time to time, but I have already had comments deleted and been banned from subs for saying very normal and accurate things. Now I’m not surprised that I was banned from the Vegan sub instantly, but still. The mod abuse and censorship here seems even worse than reddit which is honestly kinda impressive.

It is always funny when other places shit on America for our history of slavery. Like Koreans for example. They had the longest unbroken chain of slavery of any modern society and yet you’ll still have some of them trying to say Americans are the worst because of our history of slavery.

It’s like… All places in the world had (or still have) slavery going on. Why does the Internet seem to think we were the worst offenders???
