ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a product that sounded promising but ended up being very underwhelming?77·10 months agoGoogle glass. Sounded like we’d all be wearing these glasses that we’d not be able to do without, but even looking back that sounds like such a poor idea. I try to not be on my phone as much as I can, I can’t imagine wearing glasses with an interface in my direct vision constantly, especially when a lot of it would be shit like emails, LinkedIn notifications of people I might know, and my siblings sending me 12 Instagram posts in a row.

ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldto Movies@lemmy.world•Will The People Who Say They Love Cinema the Most Come Back to the Movies?English71·11 months agoLast time I went to the cinema it was a small screen, and had a bunch of teens just taking the piss. It’s to be expected at this point, but it really compromises the experience of going to the cinema. They ended up getting shouted at and they eventually behaved, but for a movie with a fairly quiet first few scenes they wouldn’t stop with shitty one-liners, saying how they’d fuck the lead actress, and throwing their food at the screen.
This is what I pay to go to the cinema for? When I saw Spectre there were a group of teens taking photos with the flash on, and laughing constantly. Entitlement and selfishness are what ruin the cinema experience for most people. Then things like the hygiene of others etc - being in a hot cinema with someone who hasn’t bathed recently and is just stinking of a few days of BO is really off-putting lol.
ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldOPMto Batman@lemmy.world•Has anyone been enjoying Batman: Caped Crusader yet? What are your opinions? (No spoilers please)English1·11 months agoI’d agree with that - not on the same level as BTAS, but still very decent! It’s very noir, but it’s also not afraid to address into the fantastical, which I liked a lot. I think some things that were changed from the norm were a little unusual - I get that they need to differentiate the show, but some changes seem rather trivial and (so far) there doesn’t seem to have been much need for the changes?
I’m wary of giving spoilers if anyone who hasn’t seen the show/ contemplating watching it, so feel free to drop me a message if you want to discuss anything in depth.
ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldMto Batman@lemmy.world•Are Matt Hagen (Clayface) and his "assistant" lovers in BTAS?English2·11 months agoOh wow, well caught! I never would have picked up on that! This means I’m due a rewatch on those episodes! :)
ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldMto Batman@lemmy.world•Are Matt Hagen (Clayface) and his "assistant" lovers in BTAS?English2·11 months agoTo be honest, I’ve never felt that. I felt like maybe as well as being his assistant, Teddy was also a huge fan of Hagen. His respect for him, as well as his pity for how Hagen has spiralled is what I pick up from him. It’s like a friendship that’s devolved to be completely one-sided from a friend who’s been there through the years, through the thick and thin. It’s essentially a case of watching his friend dealing with addiction, and sinking lower and lower in his self-destruction, and into a life of crime.
I agree that there doesn’t seem to be anything with Selina and Maven either.
If you compare it to Harley and Ivy, they’re a lot more overt with their references to their relationship, so I never would have thought that Matt and Teddy were involved with each other.

ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldOPMto Batman@lemmy.world•Has anyone been enjoying Batman: Caped Crusader yet? What are your opinions? (No spoilers please)English4·11 months agoSame as that so far! The fact he addresses him as ‘Pennyworth’ says a lot. Like The Batman had a similar dynamic with Battinson, but you could tell they cared about each other and that Bruce just didn’t particularly like being told what to do with the Bruce Wayne side of his life. So far I don’t think the season is hitting that same tone, but again, same as you I’ll wait til I’ve seen the end.

ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldMto Batman@lemmy.world•What was the better ending for Bane in the Arkham series?English2·11 months agoI definitely prefer the canon version of events as it seems much more fitting for Bane. Arkham Knight was good, but his thing wasn’t about killing other villains, it was about recruiting them, so killing Bane seems unnecessary, and just seems like some convenient writing.
Bane had control of Santa Prisca previously, and it seems very fitting for him to take care of a drug cartel that’s hurting his people. Much much more satisfying ending.
ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldto Movies@lemmy.world•Why did movies got longer in recent years?English1·1 year agoOh okay I get what you mean now, definitely with you on the really badly over-used jokes. Nobody and This Is The End are great movies!
ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.worldto Movies@lemmy.world•Why did movies got longer in recent years?English18·1 year agoI think that it’s a few factors. Some movies that were longer started to be accepted, like the summer blockbusters creeping longer and longer and people not complaining much about the length. Then streaming picking up more and more, and with habits of binging it became apparent people were happy to sit for longer and longer times watching content (shows, documentaries, movies) and then with COVID and people looking for things to occupy their time longer content was welcomed more.
Though with your list of things you don’t like in films I’m not sure you really like films at all? Talking scenes are usually important for dialogue exposition, reflecting the characters mindsets etc, but why do you hate fight scenes and comedy scenes? What kind of movies do you like?

I don’t think their exoskeletons allow for that, I think they just grow in size as opposed to getting disproportionate weight gain like a big belly
