I have to post this here because the mods at news and politics are censoring discourse on this news.

I have’t seen it posted to Politics, but it would be removed as it’s not political.

News seems to be removing it since people can’t (won’t?) abide by lemmy.world terms of service:

    https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/

"1. Attacks on users or groups

Before using the website, remember you will be interacting with actual, real people and communities. Lemmy.World is not a place for you to attack other people or groups of people. Just because you disagree with someone doesn’t give you the right to harass them. Discuss ideas and be critical of principles. Show the respect you desire to receive.

We do not tolerate threats of and calls for violence in any form against any living creature."

He’s the head of one of the largest healthcare providers in the country and the murder appears to be politically motivated. It absolutely is politics. It’s like thinking JKFs assassination wasn’t politics because it was a lone gunman.

And being happy he’s dead isn’t an attack on a person or an appeal to violence. You and the mods at news are just uncomfortable with confronting the resentment people have after being exploited and abused by people like him for years. It’s expressing emotions.

You want to pretend you have the moral high ground because you will only express civility. Sorry, but people do not have to be reverential to a man who kicked their teeth in everyday and is literally responsible for thousands of deaths. You’re simply trying to disrupt the camaraderie being built by people that might rise up against the people you bootlick.

because it was a lone gunman.

yeah just like with trump’s attempt…

cheekiness aside, plebs are tired and “civility” is suppressing this sentiment. big reason why these parasties will so brazen about fucking us is because they no longer have any fear of the mob.

they don’t live with us or interact with us beyond when we serve them. they feel entitled to extract and to never contribute. then regime whores tell us to be civil 🤡

Like I said in another thread, we just do not know at this point.

"Everyone WANTS it to be “scumbag insurance exec. killed for scumbag insurance reasons”, but we just don’t know at this point.

Jilted lover? Could be. Caught cheating? Sure, why not? Insurance killing? Weirder things have happened. Friend or relative just sick of his shit? I mean, I dunno the guy, but anything is possible. Completely random killing? In MY New York City? It’s more likely than you think!"

If it turns out he got killed because somebody approved an abortion or gender affirming care, suddenly that IS political, but not in a way anybody expected. The conversation gets turned on its head.

That’s why I’m saying “don’t get all excited, wait until we know more.”

Yeah bro that’s totally what you meant which is why you didn’t express these reservations until now but did morally admonish anyone that celebrated and even threw in some veiled threats about being banned for inciting violence.

nobody cares why he got killed, people are celebrating that he did… way to miss the point champ.

Why he got killed is just as important. The people celebrating don’t know why they’re celebrating. They don’t know anything about the guy other than he’s a CEO.

Let’s say, just for the sake of argument, that he was involved in a mixed marriage and some white supremacist killed him for being a “race traitor”.

Suddenly now the discussion has changed.

People are assuming he got killed for reason “x”, but we just do not know at this point and it’s more prudent to withhold judgement until we DO know.

Bro you’re not some profound thinker. People understand it could be for another reason. But what little details we have, use of a silencer, waited for that specific person, points to it not being. Regardless it’s still karmic justice what ever the real reason is.

people like seeing a parasite dead, kinda like saddam or osama…

if the reason for why it happened ever comes out, we can discuss it then. i doubt it though. it will get covered but that’s just my opinion.

it is also prudent to not be a parasite but yet he was one.

              FAFO.

You came into thread where nobody violated ToS to remind us about ToS lol

just to tell us “be prudent”? I am not following what is your impulse here beyond to cool down the discussion.

The discussion needs to cool down so people don’t get bounced for violating lemmy.world TOS.

                I’m anti-knee-jerk-reaction.

If it turns out like people want, that this is some relative of someone who died because they were denied care, that’s a different conversation… but we just don’t know yet.

So my advice is cool it until we do know.

And the usual normal reasonable line regarding violent rhetoric is plausible threats of violence. And hate speech is defined usually as hatred toward a marginalized group of a protected class. I.e. we know exactly what hate speech is, we don’t have broad definitions that you can apply surreptitiously after the fact to people like billionaire or police.
