Welcome to /c/Gay - Your LGBTQ+ Haven

We're more than just a community; we're your haven for celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and connecting with like-minded individuals.

Community Rules:

~ 1. No bigotry. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 4. Keep it LGBTQ+ related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love posts but 3-4 in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

I think a lot of people have always only accepted "normal" gays and lesbians. You know, the ones that don't "push it on your face" and just "look normal". The more we pushed for freedom of expression, the more people felt comfortable coming out as gender fluid, non binary, trans, ace, the more these bigots started coming out as "against the alphabet".

So my theory is not so much that acceptance changed, but our stardards changed and we demand more.

This is anecdotal, and likely says just as much about the strain all of the hate takes on our mental health as it does about anything... but...

For fucks sake, some of us are just dreary to meet, and almost every queer person I meet younger than me has all but forgotten why "being polite/respectful" (a loaded word yes) isn't just something for the good of a stranger.... its a survival tool, a shortcut through some the day's shit, less mental load etc. And, walking around queer-coded as fuck is way more fun and easy when i'm not working against someone else's vibe of acting like a cunt as a whole is just easier on any community......

Oh, and I'm only 29 and 18mo's, so im not ancient or anything
