Good call. Really common sense anymore ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

So what was the ultimate outcome here? Does the uk government have leave to turn private property into military installations? Howโ€™d it go in the courts?

[โ€“] Reddfugee42@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Lol of course they do. "In the national interest" clears every hurdle every time.

Bro think his "private property" is above the land from the country

[โ€“] YourPrivatHater@ani.social -3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Are you insane? The AA is there to protect the area including your property. Also the greater public interest in safety from terrorism outweighs your "privat property" (wich is literally built in that country)

[โ€“] Ptsf@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

That's actually not the case in America. We have a constitutional amendment for it.

Quartering soldiers is very different than putting an aa emplacement on your roof.

[โ€“] Ptsf@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

True, but if you look up relevant case law it more often than not sides with temporary emplacements still being a violation of the 5th amendment when emplaced without due process and just compensation. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ The amendments are significantly old, and are meant to be interpreted in modern contexts. You can't take them at face "this is what is written" value.

Ohhhhhhhh and? Its not about usa and usa isn't a normal country for us Europeans. I respectfully dont care about your laws regarding that and i don't think that such a thing would be unsolvable in your country either. Just paying for it or putting it on public property would be possible.

[โ€“] Ptsf@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

True, but I'm just pointing out that you're being a bit extremist and that it's a perfectly rational expectation to not host military at one's quarters, listing the largest example I could. You might disagree with someone, but calling them insane for sharing an opinion that's literally enshrined as a right for 400+ million people is a tad overboard, no?

[โ€“] YourPrivatHater@ani.social -4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

400 million that seemingly don't know what is not insane and that have nothing to do with this.

Gosh you're toxic, lol.
