At first the breeding pen was working fine, then all of a sudden I’m having problems where the pals don’t care for the breeding pen and just simply leave.

I double checked that the entire pen was within the base boundaries and that the parent pals weren’t hungry or have any ailments.

Any idea what may be the issue?

Does it still say the pal is assigned to the pen?

I have had it before where one pal Sayed in the pen, while the other wandered around the base doing nothing but still was assigned to the pen, consuming cakes, and making eggs.

No, for whatever reason even when the target says the pal can be assigned at the breeding pen it just won’t stick.
Instead the pal goes to sleep for a few seconds and then it runs off.

Then at the breeding pen it will say 0/1 for the parent, so no egg making.

Dedicated breeding bases seem to help. The game starts to screw up more and more as you progress. I have noticed when the server tick rate plummets Pals start acting extra durpy.

The base I have is just the breeding pen, incubators, ranch (for eggs and milk), and berry farms. Should I move the cake making stuff to a different base?

Everything else needs to moved out. It’s stupid I know but the less the Ai has to think the better.

Thanks, I’ll try that later today when I get the chance to hop in. Here’s hoping I come back to you with good news.

They became asexual, just let 'em live their life.

/jk Actually go to the palbox, put both pals assigned to breeding in the box, take them out, and assign them manually to the pen again.

I’ve had it happen several times too, though less so since 1.4 - generally I managed to fix it with either putting the pal back in the box and out again (rarely on first try though) or logging out and back in.

Unfortunately the latter usually leaves something else screwed up, like having to chase the farm pals back into the ranch so they continue to produce milk/eggs/honey.

I’m gonna try the solution someone else suggested and just reduce the amount of actionable stuff in the breeding base and also maybe just have like 2 bases right next to each other on penking beach and 3rd wherever since it doesn’t quite fit there next to them.

I had this issue when they were able to leave the pen by roaming over terrain like rocks or hills. Haven’t had the issue since I moved the pen to an exactly flat space where they can’t use the terrain to climb over the fence.

I moved my pen to a flat surface by putting it on top of wood foundations. But that didn’t seem to help keep pals from leaving.

They’ll leave when they get hungry, or need to sleep. When they’re done, I find that they usually find another job they can do.
