I just want to applaud You all for having thick skin; I was looking at all the different posts, and sooo many had sooo many down votes.

Downvotes bug the fuck out of me. How do You all deal with it so well ? Any tips / advice ?

    You can tell which post here hit the all feeds because everyone is downvoted heavily. I’m not a republican but I don’t think the fediverse is very good for political discourse. There are a disproportionate amount of people who come from marginalized communities and because of that have their guard up and take political disagreements as personal attacks.

    As much as people don’t want to admit it, the downvote button will always be used as a disagree button.

        I upvote if it adds value. I downvote if it doesn’t. It’s not if I agree or disagree. I upvoted some hexbear comments because they were cited and well written. Didn’t agree with it all but it was a true attempt to have a dialogue.
