If Die Hard is a Christmas movie then so is Die Hard 2. Yet the sequel never gets brought into this debate by either side 🤔
I still cannot believe that the full title for the home release of that movie was Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
That’s what made the late 80s/early 90s cool. Nothing had to make sense, it just had to sound cool to 7 year old kids, and executives coked out of their gourds - combining to make the unlikeliest demographic.
Memphis Design was also popular in the 80s-90s, and is sometimes described as Bauhaus meets Fisher-Price. I wonder if there’s any coincidence there.
What would you have called it? Die Less Hard?
‘Die harder too, also.’
No. Probably something that sounds even sillier tbh, like “Die Hard 2: the harder they fall the harder they die”
To Those About to Die Hard, We Salute You
That’s something you keep for #3.
Die Hard 2 is great, and it has O’Brien in it! (Oh wait, I’m not in Risa right now)
I honestly never watched Die Hard, but a movie that seems to be about suffering with O’Brien, well it’s a match
Full disclosure, he has a very small part as a pilot.
I think you mean an chief transporter
You kidding me? Lemmy is Risa now.
What Christmas movie comes out July 15?
It’s brilliant. There’s no competition in July.
Just in time for Christmas in July.

I am sure you can check the ol’ Hallmark Channel lineup
First or Second council of Nicea?
They were in agreement
If only clemenceau had accepted the Turkish proposal to codify its Christmas movie status in the 1919 Paris agreement, could have prevented a lot of violence smh
Hardware (1990) is also a Christmas movie, as it takes place on Christmas eve https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV-qegEKMQw

The thing is, Die Hard wasn’t a Christmas movie originally. The script was changed by Constantine in 336 to align it with the Sol Invictus festival.

IT WAS DECLARED A CHRISTMAS MOVIE AT THE COUNCIL OF NICEA I CAN’T BELIEVE I HAVE TO GET ANGRY ABOUT THIS
In Monday’s USA Today, they list “Die Hard” as an “essential Christmas movie,” while describing the shoot out at a christmas tree lot. Yep nothing says Yuletide cheer like watching blood spattered gun battles on TV. I’m very old so my ideas are out of date but I enjoy the quieter classics like “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and even “Magoo’s Christmas Carol” (which is surprisingly faithful to Dicken’s actual story).
I like feeling up and happy and in a good mood, though - so I guess I’m an outlier, a holdover from another age.

“Relic from the previous century,” that’s what I like to call myself.
Note: The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) is quite good. It has a solid performance by Michael Caine, who carries on as though it’s an all-human cast.
Yes that’s another good one. I am also a relic from the previous century! I was around when “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “The Grinch who Stole Christmas” first premiered on network television.
Ah, you were just a bit before my time. I’m a Gen Xer and grew up watching A Christmas Story when it first aired on tv, which I think is another great example of a happy holiday movie. I can’t believe I mentioned The Muppet Christmas Carol before it, hah. Yeah, I liked A Christmas Story when I was a kid, but I love it now that I’m older and get the more adult references. My wife and I keep it in the regular Christmas viewing rotation along with A Charlie Brown Christmas, which in my opinion are perfect when you want to feel the ol’ winter warm & fuzzies. They’re so comforting in a way.
I was lot bit before your time. I remember working as a projectionist for the University of Utah (a part time gig) and showing “A Christmas Story” for one of my film classes - the first time I ever saw it, and I really enjoyed it. I think anything can really be considered a Christmas movie if it is something you watch each year and enjoy. I still am amazed by the quality of the music in “Mister Magoo’s Christmas Carol,” a movie I rewatch every year, and just recently got to purchase the sheet music (which only came out a few years ago).

The Long Kiss Goodnight is a Christmas movie and is superior to Die Hard.
I’ll with you that it’s a Christmas movie, but better than Die Hard? No way José
