If you're interested in seeing live progress, Andrew McCalip's Twitter is doing live updates on his progress, detailing every step and occasionally doing a Twitch stream. His last update is that furnaces are cooking, not sure when they will be done but here's hoping it doesn't turn out to be fake.

What do you think? Will this work?

[–] simple@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nobody really knows, but everyone's skeptical it will work at all. There's been a lot of claims on scientists discovering the next best thing but they're almost always outed as fake. So yeah, I want to believe, but I doubt it.

Yeah, and there is surprisingly little hype from South Korea itself. If it were legit the university and give would be celebrating

I think it's good that there isn't much hype. Until a reputable source actually does replicate the paper, there's not much to celebrate yet. Wouldn't want people to celebrate something that could turn out to be fake.

Why are there Chinese programs under “Private/Individual” when everything is actually state-owned and subject to complete takeover by the PRC?
