Bigotry is as it says, bigotry. You should make fun of people for being bigots.
The thing about being bigoted, is that it's literally impossible to avoid. You don't get to not be bigoted. You just get to pick which form of bigotry you prefer.
I understand your point, but I believe that it's human nature to have biases. Labeling it as unavoidable bigotry seems a bit pessimistic. We can strive to recognize and challenge our biases, encouraging empathy and understanding instead. It's a continuous process, not a fixed state of being.
It's not pessimistic at all because it's not bad to be bigoted. I didn't say it was humanly impossible to not be a bigot. I said it was literally impossible.
The point I'm making is that there is no such thing as not being bigoted.
My daughter is arachnophobic - being around spiders gives her a panic attack. But you know what she doesn't do? She doesn't think that all spiders should be eradicated. She knows intellectually that they're good, and that she is the one with the issue. She'd rather i capture a spider and take it outside than kill it.
People like Pat Robertson are hateful bigots who don't want anyone to do anything that they don't approve of. Don't make it sound like we should accommodate them, we should not.
Phobias aren't uncontrollable, they're irrational. The treatment for a phobia is exposure therapy because of how irrational it is to be scared of something that can't or won't hurt you. So if you chose not to seek treatment, you're the asshole and you should be ashamed of yourself.
Are you retarded?
Only mildy.
