monopolies are the same as dictators, generally really bad, but a great dictator can get so much shit done and change things for the better much faster than great democracy could (i’m not dictator-apologising here, i’ll take democracy any day, just stating a fact here)

as much as i believe languages are living tools, cannot be constrained by rules, and will evolve no matter how much old timers complain

if you tell me about a “venomous mushroom” I’ll freak out at the possibility of such a being existing faster than you can explain how you don’t really see a reason for the distinction between venomous and poisonous and that other languages don’t even have it

  • nonono, that’s the point, you don’t have to be an expert to notice that. In fact, you can be pretty stupid and still notice that rather easily

more and more people are beginning to notice. In the years past the ruling class at least tried to be subtle, but as their arrogance rises the masks are coming off, let’s hope we still have the spirit of the french, because the wage gap charts are starting to look oddly similar

  • yeah that makes perfect sense.

non-medical professionals should not care about DNR orders, bracelets, whatevers. Because what if it’s fake and you can’t tell the difference from a real one? You could, unknowingly, help someone commit a murder, or let a temporarily unstable person die, sure you’d be innocent, but guilt and trauma doesn’t care about your innocence

  • isn’t it logical to think that though?

bread requires figuring out that ground up grain with water can be poured onto a rock heated up by fire and made into a tasty pancake thingy

a knife requires a sharp rock, a stick, and a bit of rope made out of tightly twisted plant fibers

i’m reasonably confident if i was thrown into a jungle i’d be able to DIY myself a basic knife within a day or two, perhaps even before getting mauled by wild animals. Bread though? Even with the foresight of knowing what i need i’d struggle. Rocks, sticks, and plants are pretty much everywhere. Where do i find wild grain??

  • dang that is fascinating! Amazing to see someone with vast knowledge on what seems to be a deeply confusing topic, thank you!

also, goodness, no offence if you’re religious but i have no idea how Christianity is treated any different from Greek mythology and the sort - the sources of faith for both are all over the place. Sure Christianity has just one god, but there is an awful lot of different versions of him

and sure you could justify it with various logic like - Satan spreads misinformation, and it’s up to the chosen of God to pick out the truth, but if the God’s alleged chosen disagree what then? How is one supposed to follow this religion and learn from its teachings if every sect/denomination claims they’re the only correct one?
