I waddled onto the beach and stole found a computer to use.

Futurama - Thompson’s teeth, the only teeth strong enough to eat other teeth
Am I the only one that gets this? I tried uploading a video but can’t seem to regardless of file size
I don’t think you can upload a video to Lemmy directly. People usually upload to another site and then paste the link in the URL field.
Toggling between sections makes no difference
This shouldn’t happen, I’ll poke around and see if I can replicate it.
so many different sections of lemmy makes it difficult to know where to post
Quick overview if it helps:
subscribed
, local
, all
, moderator view
are different feeds that will show posts from different collections of communities:
subscribed
shows posts from communities you subscribe tolocal
shows posts from communities on the instance. This can be helpful for topic specific instances, and on our instance it will get you a lot of the Canadian content. The full list of communities on our instance are here: https://lemmy.ca/communitiesall
shows all content that the instance knows aboutmoderator view
only shows posts from communities where you are a mod.hot
, active
, scaled
, controversial
etc. affects the order of the posts on the feed.
You can set defaults in your settings once you know what you like, I haven’t changed mine in a long time now. I use subscribed
with scaled
, but I recommend trying out things to see what you prefer :)
When posting, you will be posting to a specific community. What I like to do is navigate to it in my address bar. It will follow this format:
lemmy.ca/c/COMMUNITY .com
For example
lemmy.ca/c/fediverse .world
lemmy.ca/c/canada
(or lemmy.ca/c/canada .ca
if you find it easier)Can anyone explain this one?
Excited, I loved seeing people meeting up at community centres and communal spaces to watch the games :)
I end up using some blog post when that happens because the forums make no sense
Depends on the shrimp and dish tbh
I guess it could end up being an arms race.
What if the tool was more of a toolbox, where each instance could configure it the way that they want (ex. Thresholds before something is flagged, etc.) Similar to how automod works, where the options are well known but it’s hard to tell what any particular space is running behind the scenes.
At the very least, tools like this can make it harder for silent vote manipulation even if it doesn’t stop it entirely
Similar with trying to explain the Fediverse. It doesn’t come up often, but the explanation is sometimes just
Non-profit run social media
While not entirely accurate since you can run an instance for profit, it’s been the case for pretty much every instance and it’s definitely true for the side I’m helping with
!microblogmemes@lemmy.world is leaking, love to see it

I stumbled across this recently trying to make my taskbar smaller without borking the size of everything else
It’s nice :)
I tried out a few of them, and I’m currently using these two:
You could also post this in !youshouldknow@lemmy.world
I think what we need is an automated solution which flags groups of accounts for suspect vote manipulation.
We appreciate the work you put into this, and I imagine it took some time to put together. That will only get harder to do if someone / some entity puts money into it.
Ah any reason why Firefox decided not to include WebSerial?
Maybe you don’t want to buy the Station, or you left it at home. In either event, you can simply plug the iron into your computer and configure it via WebSerial.
You’ll need a browser based on Chrome to pull this trick off, as Mozilla has decided (at least, for now) to not include the capability in Firefox. In testing, it worked perfectly on both my Linux desktop and Chromebook.
Unfortunately, plugging the iron into your phone won’t work, as the mobile version of Chrome does not currently support WebSerial. But given the vertical layout of the interface and the big touch-friendly buttons, I can only assume that iFixit is either banking on this changing soon or has a workaround in mind. Being able to plug the iron into your phone for a quick settings tweak would be incredibly handy, so hopefully it will happen one way or another.
The WebSerial interface not only gives you access to all the same settings as plugging the iron into the Power Station does, but it also serves as the mechanism for updating the firmware on the iron.
I was looking for something similar a while back. This one looked promising, could you try it and see how it goes?

Medication and exercise might need to be separate from this
Also a few of the flats have donation boxes, and hopefully over time that’ll be enough to keep the party going :)
Hope it clears up nicely, and congrats :)
For what it’s worth, multigenerational homes are common in many cultures :)
Would you be able to take a screenshot of the map and edit that in as the link URL? Nice thumbnails help a post be seen, and it might let people see the map when the site is getting a hug of death 😄
Then just have the website link at the top of the post
edit: It loaded for me, and I see why a screenshot wouldn’t make sense. There’s so much cool detail, thanks for sharing!

Well TIL, maybe it’s the color?
My original guess was that red watermelons are more common and so flies have evolved to crave it. You could also try with other fruits and report back 😄
