Jokes on them, in 50+ years I’ve accumulated almost nothing anyhow!

This isn’t a world War (in name)
Give it time.
I never thought I’d be living through, what I think of, as a major world event.
I’m an older X-er. I’ve had it up to here with major world events. Boring times. I want to live in BORING TIMES.
but the history books WILL likely bring up this period on the States. In what manner they’re mentioned, good, bad, or indifferent, is yet to be seen.
I feel very sure we can predict in what manner they will be mentioned. The question is how bad will it be.
Kamala trusted that turnout, hoped people will know the work that was done, understand the threat of second Trump presidency, and vote in similar manner again.
Don’t forget running to the right in an attempt to court R voters (just what every D constituent wants!) who (as usual) did NOT show up for her.
If the shoe fits…
None of that changes whether you will be among the primary groups to pay the consequences, which is all I said.
Harris abandoned queers, brown people, and the entire progressive side of the party and needed to pay the consequences.
No, the queer community, brown people, disabled people, etc will now pay the consequences. gg
Russia doesn’t have to lift a finger. We elected the king of the racist bigots, and now for four years (and more) we’re going to have to constantly push back against them, because they will will think they can do whatever they want.
Here’s the thing man: It doesn’t matter one bit if you and I think they were terrible people for not voting Harris despite all the very valid reasons you have listed why they should have. (All of which I agree with.)
Bottom line: Dems didn’t sell themselves to those voters in a way that worked. We can be outraged that it didn’t work, but it didn’t work.
So, we can wring our hands about how awful our fellow man is for not seeing the clear moral imperative that we do (exactly like the Genocide-Joe folks have been doing for months), or we can recognize that Dems need to start doing things differently.
Personally I’m of the opinion that unless they truly are just there to put up a token show of resistance against R while serving the same goals (and I’m not yet cynical enough to really believe that), they need to stop with this “let’s move to the right and try for some R votes” crap. It’s not getting them any R votes, and it’s clearly pissing off a lot of D. Edit: And it’s ratcheting the entire country rightward.
In my 50+ years they have never really moved to the left for more than a brief teaser. Let’s see them seriously push for some Bernie or AOC crafted policies, etc. Some actual progressive fire. Stop treating the left like political suicide, and stop treating Republicans like they can be reasoned with.
No no, I was told repeatedly that Trump would be no worse than Harris. Clearly the Palestinians on the ground are wrong somehow.
Fair point! So which part of my reply to the other commenter was incorrect?
Sure, OK. But it’s not a universal observation. Leaving off “to me” makes it so. That commenter didn’t sound that way to me. See how that works?
You are reading a lot into my comment about implicit biases that is literally just not there.
Have a good day!
Who is we?
The electorate?
I mean, yes, I’m sure there are people who do. There are people who think the earth is flat. They don’t influence policy though.
Edit - my point is, no one is coming for your testes, and knowing someone who thinks it’s a good idea is no better an example here than it would be for me to say I’m worried a flat earther is going to influence space exploration policy.
And if you decline that premise, and just say “I’m not sexist, I treat everyone the same despite gender” you are somehow lying and trying to hide your sexism, which makes you a bad person or something.
We all have implicit biases, this is undeniable. Denying this doesn’t make you a bad person, but you are denying reality. Having the biases doesn’t make you a bad person either - again we all do. But you can’t be mindful of them if you deny they exist.
FWIW I’ve only seen that used to illustrate how ridiculous it is that we find it essentially normal to have laws controlling what women can do with their reproductive systems but not men. I’ve not seen a single credible example of someone seriously suggesting this.
I now wish he’d won in 2020. Maybe it would have finally been the thing that stopped D from tacking to the right. Plus, we’d be a month away from being done with him now. We’d be a month away from starting to rebuild from 8 years of his shit. (well ok, more like two months)
Instead, factoring in the supreme court, the house and senate, and figuring all the shit he dismantles will take more than just 4 years to put back together, I figure I’ll be dead of old age (as will anyone over 50) by the time any of the progressive goals that seemed like they could one day be obtainable at the end of 2020 actually have any chance of becoming obtainable again.
And that’s on top of the untold horrors that await the queer community, people of color, folks with special needs, etc etc during the next four years, and I’m now not 100% sure we’ll get another election at all.
Biden was never going to win. He is actively losing his marbles. It was so painfully obvious even Democrats had to accept it.
And yet now everyone has to pretend that a single coherent thought comes out of Trumps mouth in any given 5 minutes.
That’s how you sounded
To you.
Trump voters:
meh, not my problem
