Getting a green card, even after marriage, typically takes 6 months at a minimum. If they started the process now, she could still be deported within Trump’s 100 days

I previously had a truck, but had to get rid of it once it started having some engine issues. I lived in the city, so I figured I could make do with a sedan.
Boy do I miss my truck. I never really realized how much I needed it in big-city,USA, but it sure is apparent now. Plenty of times I need to haul something for work, or sometimes pop a curb to set up some tabling stuff, or even just hauling my bike for hitting some trails. My next car is probably going to truck, hopefully something small that is fuel efficient and easy to park. I just don’t want to give up having the convenience of a bed that can haul heavy, messy stuff, it’s too convenient for me
Thank you for this. I’m signing off for today, I’m sure I’ll find the results out eventually
I imagine wild almonds probably taste like burning
Yeah I think they were a cool experience. They still exist in some cities too. I know in Texas, if you google “metroplex” drive in, you’ll usually find one that is operational
I like /all too, just to be clear. But sometimes I’d like to browse the equivalent of /all, just without politics. Sometimes it’s a little much and the feed could be 70%+ posts about the US election
Plus, some instances seem to have a certain “style” to them. I feel like it would be cool if there was some currated feeds that instances presented, that include content across multiple instances that fit that “style”. Would just be an easier way to explore those niche communities. It would also kinda solve the issue with having fractured communities for the same topic across multiple instances
Honestly looks like it was the correct training response
Yeah. Or just personalized feeds that you could share. I’m sure some instances have a great list of communities that their subscribers follow, that isn’t available on/Local. And going to /All isn’t always a good time. If there was like a /All, but maybe with some extra filters, that users could just subscribe to, that would be awesome
Very concise answer. Linux was intimidating for me aswell when I first dual-booted it, and I didn’t understand it the first time around. But getting started in it was a lot of fun, and every time I came back, it got easier, until eventually it was the same for me as Windows
Mm idk, I think knowing how to use folders is pretty important. It helps people stay organized.
The article wasn’t talking about file systems like FAT32 or NTFS. It was talking about using directories, instead of “pulling files from a laundry basket” by using a search bar.
You have any sources for this? A quick glance at wikipedia says that hydrogen ICE has about the same energy efficiency as gasoline, if the engine is properly tuned.
I mean the imperial system has it’s niche uses too. Fractional measurements are helpful if you’re doing multiple of something and you don’t want to calculate. What if you have 16 boards and you need to lay them out across 19 feet, what’s the width for each board and gap? Well its 19/16 or 1-3/16. And you could say your tolerance is ±1/16. Versus a decimal system, you need to hit 1.1875, with a ±0.0625 tolerance. Yeah no, imperial is better in that case.
Bur imperial does have it’s pains, especially once you start working with anything that isn’t a multiple of 2. Just wanted to point out it does have some uses.
Is it common for roads to close or get backed up randomly during the winter? Like should I be planning additional time to get anywhere, on top of what google maps says?
When you say hardly any snow, you mean just enough to coat the ground? Like maybe an inch? What about other winter stuff like ice storms and freezing rain and whatnot
Thanks for all the driving tips, it seems there’s a lot that goes in to driving in the north, beyond just worrying about ice. Just wondering, does everyone have a 4wd or awd car? Does that help at all on the road?
Ah I didn’t even consider the ice scraper and winter shoes. I wouldn’t even know what kind to buy for that
Yep thanks
Frankly, who cares? If you don’t want to see or participate in tankie propoganda, then don’t. People point out that lemmy.ml is the hub for a lot of communities, so it isn’t reasonable to switch to another instance. And then they bring up communities like !Linux@lemmy.ml Guess what, Linux isn’t meant to be a hub for political discourse, and for the most part, it isn’t. Use lemmy.ml how you want to use it, and if you want to participate in other political leanings, go to a different instance. No one is really stopping you, and that’s the whole idea of the fediverse. And there really isn’t any value lost, because this isn’t a “choose one and only one” situation. You’ve got all of the fediverse at your fingertips
<EDIT> So this came off a bit abrasive. But the point I want to convey is that if you want to have deep/heated political discourse, either do that on a community (and instance) suitable for it, or use an account specifically for political discussion. I think it helps everyone. The mods can referee communities with more clear boundaries, the lurkers/users don’t need to worry about political debates when looking up tech support or whatever, and you (the reader/political dissident) can still enjoy your discussions with less worry about being randomly banned. </EDIT>
Glad to see the creativity there, that’s hilarious
