What made you go with a custom solution instead of something like home assistant?

That’s exactly what happened for me. I used to be a mod for a bunch of subreddits (including some fairly popular ones) but I realized I just didn’t really enjoy it anymore. Which is a shame because I’ve started and maintained a lot of communities over the years but being a Reddit mod just killed that for me.
I work in emergency management but I’ve always been interested in tech as a hobby. That led me to start self-hosting Plex on my desktop about 6-7 years ago. Now I’ve got a dedicated machine running unraid with about 20 to 30 different docker services.
I really enjoy being able to figure out how to setup a service and then being able to be fully in control of how it works. Beyond just enjoying tinkering with the system to learn, I enjoy being able to troubleshoot and fix problems without relying on large companies.
I’ve lived in a handful of different provinces and have family in basically every region of Canada and I have never heard of goof being used that way. Where did you hear that?
Calling someone a goof is just another way to say they’re being silly/ ridiculous, which I’m pretty sure is the same way it’s used everywhere else.
As others have pointed out, CloudFlare doesn’t sell .ca domain names due to the ownership restrictions applied by CIRA. I’ve personally used Web Hosting Canada (WHC.ca) for many years, including their hosting for a while. I also have a couple of domains with Register.ca.
I then use DuckDNS for dynamic updates and the free tier of CloudFlare for security certificates and some simple access rules.
Cannot wait for this, I wishlisted it immediately when I first saw a post about it over the weekend.
I was in a similar situation but I ended up creating a support ticket. They responded by asking me to verify my ownership by responding to their email from the account I didn’t have anymore… So you saved yourself some wasted time by not attempting to resolve the issue with them.
IIRC Steam has used that first clause to limit Steam keys being provided on another store at a cheaper price. I believe devs have been allowed (maybe unofficially) to sell at whatever price they want if there’s no steam key being provided.
Seconding Zotero. I truly don’t know how I would be able to keep track of all the research I read through and reference. I especially love that I can highlight passages and attach notes to each entry right inside the desktop app.
The browser connector is also super handy for quickly adding papers to read-through at a later date.
Tom Francis (the dev behind TBW and many other great games) posted videos throughout the dev cycle of the game on his YouTube channel. They’re definitely worth a watch for anyone interested in game design/development.
I used to only use it for random change I’d get on the rare occasion I’d pay for something with cash. Nowadays it’s always filled with dog treats since my dog is nearly always with me.
I’ve been thinking of getting 1 or 2 of those Ikea air filters, how loud are they when they run? Anything you wish you’d known before getting it?
Some of us don’t really have that luxury. For example, I don’t choose who I need to communicate with for work purposes.
I completely agree, I really enjoyed D:OS II but I just haven’t been able to get into BG3 so far. I can’t say anything was bad or poorly accomplished but it’s just not clicking for me yet.
I mean the definition of crime is literally “an illegal act for which someone can be punished by the government”. So it being “technically illegal” is the basis for it being a crime or not.
Or at least not shingles drives :/
My understanding from briefly looking at the README is that it essentially aims to help with creating balancers of various sizes (variable number of inputs and outputs) as well as allowing you to restrict the amount of space the balancers should use.
Would be great if OP could confirm though.
They sorta did, just in a different thread. https://forums.plex.tv/t/new-artwork-provider/867786/6
It’s Gracenote.
Per the linked thread, this is already rolling out but requires a refresh of metadata for it to actually pull in from the new source, so if you don’t periodically refresh metadata, nothing will change. Additionally, any locked field (i.e. if you’ve changed it manually before) won’t be updated, so any manually assigned posters will remain the same.
I’ve already done the refresh on my library and I think I only had 2 or 3 posters that I really didn’t like and overall I actually prefer the new source. Not all changes are necessarily bad changes…
Definitely nothing wrong with that!!
