Diagnoses aren’t objective. Sorry to break that one to you. Obviously they can help, but let’s not overstate what they are.

That’s why I have headphones, I find all of the noise from people talking tends to be the worst part. But apart from that, I would firstly just avoid those spaces entirely if I can, and if not I focus on diaphragmatic breathing (it has to be diaphragmatic, if you only use shallow breaths I find it makes me feel like I’m asphyxiating)

That’s affective alexithymia you’re describing, but it’s not the only mind. Cognitive alexithymia is closer to what this person was describing. A lot of the time it’s not necessarily just one or the other, it can be different degrees of both
