This article was all I needed to go install unbound and use that as my upstream server for pihole. Took me 20min and it’s been working for the past few hours. Easy and now all my dns are my own. You don’t even need a pihole, just point your router dns to the unbound server. It works out of the box with no configuration unless you want to configure it. Easy

funny thing, I took my test in NZ where it’s cheaper and easier apparently, still cost a couple of thousand $NZ but I was given a bunch of forms to fill in… Found a quiet place to do them in time, read them and filled them in. then realised I’d not read them properly and had to request the forms be resent to complete a second time, this time body doubling with the misses to ensure I’d read and completed them appropriately.

jellyfin with sonarr and radarr and now jellyseerr make the whole process simple. usenet and nzb are the way now i just wait 10 min to get the film/series i want and then watch it. a minor delay I’m more than happy with. I’d be happy to pay if, and it’s a big if, the studios can catalogue all their shows in one place. i can watch without adverts. i can pay per episode if i want. I’d rather pay 50c an episode than pay for the whole service. let me curate what I want to watch on my terms. until then, the high seas win every time

problem with random lottery is that 50% of people are more stupid than you. a scientific board across various sciences, social, economic, technological to form a government. double terms allowed and after that they become advisors. randomly selected scientists from a pool of willing participants. say 13 people? no elections. all policy decisions discussed in the open. the board is self policing as it kicks out bad apples. obviously needs fleshing out but a better form of government than we have now where politicians can ignore science and do stupid stuff cos they can
