I work in with traumatized teens. There are times where they need to be isolated from their peers, but I agree that solitary is not therapeutic. Research and experience easily demonstrate that.
The reality is, though, that these systems are so underfunded and understaffed that these detrimental tactics are the only viable option.
I’m not defending the practice. I would never work in a system that uses solitary confinement with adolescents, but I have the luxury of choice.
I’m really not sure how I posted here, but I’m grateful for your answer. This is exactly what I was looking for.
“It’s torture, and I helped!”
That’s the game of bobbin chicken. Risky, but oh, the HIGH you’ll get when you win.

I recently switched to decaf tea each morning, and the ritual around it certainly feels like I’m brewing up a potion. Some mornings it’s a potion of “I got this.” Other days, it’s a hex against my coworkers. Each tea has its own limitless possibility.
That’s a pretty impressive impression.
I’m volunteering tonight at a community concert in the park, but then the rest of the weekend will be MEGA LAUNDRY EXTRAVAGANZA. If I can get it all done before the farmer’s market closes on Sunday, I hope to make a trip out there… but realistically, I’ll probably be too worn out by then.
Thanks for teaching me. I can see that causing challenges down the road.
For example, I’m always on the lookout for all things quilting. If someone names their quilting community “Fabric Hordes” (not impossible, just look at phenomenon like r/animetitties) it wouldn’t come up in my explicit searches, and is very unlikely to be sought out or found by others in my instance.
Increasingly in my life, I’ve found this to manifest as an intolerance of frustration. Need a tool that’s not at hand? That project’s never getting finished. Anyone have methods for coping with this?
I appreciate your sentiments but whenever I move off from how my car operates or the weather, he does the equivalent of the Midwest lap slap ope. My only chance to get something heartfelt across is via a written note. I’m looking for help on writing that.
The article said it had a source linking the two events, then has a post-publication addendum that Roku denies any connection.
I agree with you that the timing is suspect.
