I lived there for six-ish years- from 1998 until 2004.

When Americans re-elected GWB, I realized “this place is RAPIDLY becoming a shithole that’s only going to get worse.” I got the hell out as soon as I was able, and every single day since, I’ve been more relieved I left when I did.

“Cowardly” is the word you’re looking for.

It’s especially good at protecting itself from literally zero threats.

Let’s not pretend Americans are putting up any kind of fight at all.

Without exception, every problem with the US has a straightforward and realizable solution being blocked by a piece of shit who cannot accept even the slimmest of chances that someone they consider undeserving might possibly, in some small way, benefit.

Not at all “just like.” You don’t have to wade through 90% of literary fiction or Hollywood films in order to find a handful of titles that don’t sexualize children or are otherwise fucking gross.
