  • I would say you are probably correct. A lot of it is semantics - I think prior to the eighties you’re just more likely to run into phrases like “adherent to Mao Zedong Thought” rather than “Marxist-Leninist-Maoist”.

Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge's words on the matter

“Our two Parties, two governments and two peoples have maintained a fundamentally identical, correct, Marxist-Leninist stand.”

Speaking first, Hua Kuo-feng welcomed the Kampuchean comrades, calling their visit a “major event” in the relations between the two parties and countries. He said, “The Communist Party of Kampuchea, headed by comrade Pol Pot, is a staunch Marxist-Leninist Party.” He called the CPK “the force at the core leading the Kampuchean people in seizing victory in their revolution.”

In warmly praising Mao Tsetung Thought, Pol Pot said, “Following Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin, Chairman Mao and his thought have triumphantly stood the test of successive revolutionary storms.” He said that Mao Tsetung Thought today illuminates the path of revolution for people all over the world.

“More precisely,” Pol Pot said of Mao Tsetung Thought, “It is the most effective and sharp ideological and political weapon which infallibly guides our struggle to victory.”

    emphasis mine

Undeniably, I would say, they were Maoist, but at the time ‘Maoism’ and ‘Marxism-Leninism’ were considered pretty much one and the same by “anti-revisionists” or those communists who split with the USSR after Khruschev’s coup d’etat. I’d say calling Pol Pot a ‘Maoist’ is a fair enough examination, it’s just that to him “Maoism” and “Marxism-Leninism” were synonymous. I’d maybe go so far as to call him a proto-MLM.

There is but one gamma male. Dr. David Banner—physician, scientist—searching for a way to tap into the hidden strengths that all humans have. Then an accidental overdose of gamma radiation alters his body chemistry. And now, when David Banner grows angry or outraged, a startling metamorphosis occurs. The creature is driven by rage and pursued by an investigative reporter.

The creature is wanted for a murder he didn’t commit. David Banner is believed to be dead. And he must let the world think that he is dead until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him.

    1. New Vegas is more accurately labeled an RPG with shooting mechanics as opposed to Fallout 4 and Starfield, which are shooters with some RPG elements.

There is quite a bit of combat, but you can beat the game without killing a single thing if you want.

    1. Some mods I use and recommend:

    Necessary

NVAC (New Vegas Anti Crash) - Hard recommendation.

FNV 4GB Patcher - Hard recommendation.

NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender) – Necessary for most mods.

YUP (Yukichigai Unofficial Patch) - Bugfixes.

Mod Configuration Menu - Lets you configure mods in-game.

New Vegas Stutter Remover - Hard recommendation.

    Necessary for More Mods

    JIP LN NVSE Plugin

lStewieAl’s Tweaks and Engine Fixes – Absolute ton of QoL improvements and options.

    JohnnyGuitar NVSE

    kNVSE Animation Plugin

Not Necessary, but I Like Em

More Perks – Adds more perks and traits to the game. Not necessarily super balanced.

Fallout Character Overhaul – Makes the game much less ugly.

New Vegas Enhanced Camera – Allows you to view your torso and legs in first-person.

JVS (Just Vanilla Sprint) – Allows you to sprint, using your AP as a sort of stamina bar.

Perk Every Level – Definitely unbalanced when considering what the developers were shooting for, but I’d personally much rather have a perk every level than every two. Even better with More Perks.

There are more. I would recommend checking out New Vegas’ most popular mods on NexusMods..

Plenty of other cool stuff, like new weapons, side-quests and companions. The game is genuinely great vanilla, too, though, and I wouldn’t recommend anything too crazy for your first run.

Not so vanilla you go without the anti-crash and stutter mods, though. Great game. Runs like hot garbage.
