It’s a legitimate societal issue. The mental health and social damage it’s doing to children should not be an accepted as a social media functionality. I don’t know what the answer is, but surely there is a way to achieve both privacy for adult users and age identification for children.
I’ll be honest, I’m not really sure what it will achieve other than new inner city stations? Parkville is needed due to the uni and hospitals, but I don’t really know how useful the others will be. The inner city is already exceptionally well serviced by public transport compared to the rest of Melbourne. So it kinda seems like it’s just making it better for existing users that already have it pretty damn good? I don’t live or work anywhere that will benefit, so I’m a bit meh about it.
There seems to be a global plague of political interference and stirring up divisions. I would like to know who it is, but we may never be told. I think it’s the wrong tactic from the Aus government, it would greatly diminish the actors power if it were made public.
