It’s hard to get good concessions from someone who’s already called your bluff. I don’t envy Donald, but it simply would not be me.
Retirement doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing decision.
Translation: You don’t have to retire. Faster, serf!
But also, he can retire. Maybe I’m naive, but how is that not enough money to stop working at 67?
Fifty paid steps, of course. First the Atomic Age, then the Information Age, and now we’re in the Dongle Age.
The goal post basically never stops moving on that one. “Commies can’t innovate!” points out that they do “Yeah well not as good as Usonia!” and the one up they offer is a shitty consumerist product designed to break in two years so you buy the next model, but I can play fucking flappy bird on it or something.
You know how people will say “having ‘democratic’ in the name doesn’t make it so bc look at the 'D’PRK”?
I’m gonna start saying this about the 'D’NC.
They’re thinking “my boss is gonna be impressed when they see this.”
The “I love capitalism because it makes consumer products and tools more efficient, useful, and affordable” crowd is going to have a hard time explaining this one.
Yemen will be remembered as a nation full of people who heroically struggled against inhumanity and brutality. Uncritical support to the Houthi “terrorists.”
At least Londonderry Smogington, a true Brit, is starving us instead of those crepefuckers in Brussels!
Badenoch said Kneecap’s “anti-British hatred has no place in our society” as she called for them to face action.
New favorite band.
Google “atrocity propaganda” and revise your position of there being “ample evidence of genocide on both sides.” Palestinian genocide is livestreamed every day. Meanwhile, I have not ever, ever heard of “Uighur genocide” from anyone who is more than three steps removed from the CIA.
Might be worth pointing out: Fascist Italy’s attempted colonization of Ethiopia was expressly for the benefit of the mother country, not for Catholics in general. Israel, on the other hand, has no mother country in that same sense, but is ostensibly for all Jews everywhere (DNA test notwithstanding). I have talked to American Jews who expressed reverence for the occupation not just because of a religious or ethnic predisposition, as with Italy and Ethiopia, but because they believe it to be a place they can “flee to” if another Shoah breaks out or whatnot (read: if Trump wins). Ignoring that American Jewry faces no such threat and the sheepishness of which the category of “settler” is collated into that of the refugee, there are material reasons for many Jews to throw their verbal weight behind the liquidation of Gaza which American Catholics did not.
It really is Occupied Korea, isn’t it?
21st century relevance
Bernie and AOC have lost what little relevancy their base once afforded them. About ninety percent of their former supporters have fallen into the Communist camp or are riding with Biden/Harris. The remainder which still attend their rallies boo them over their genocide apologia, and that’s the only thing I’ve heard about either of them in literal years. “Relevance” to liberals literally means being absorbed into the Borg and forgotten. How frightfully bleak.
Ultimate Chad maneuver
True of other artistic mediums as well. Everyone wants their hobby to be “art” but nobody wants to actually engage critically with anything which they consume. For most people, film, literature and music are sources of cheap dopamine hits, and the artistic output of the twenty-first century shows it.
