  • For a character that gets a lot of hate, Muffin really stands out to me as a toddler character that was written by people who had actual experience in raising a toddler. It shows the ups and downs of raising children as they learn to manage their emotional swings. Just like social media, “Bluey” as a show highlights the slice of life of the main Heeler family and it tends to show/post the “good” memories of the household and random glimpses of the other Heeler family that will contain ups and downs of the life of Muffin. It’s really nice to follow Muffin’s growth throughout the seasons:

    • S1 “Bike” - She has tantrums when things don’t go her way, but she is creative enough to find a workaround
    • S1 “Sleepover” - Can’t really blame her since she’s sleep deprived (As a parent of a 4 y.o., this is sooo relatable). But the next morning when she finally had her sleep, she shows appreciation and thankfulness for Bluey.
    • S2 “Charades” - no excuses here, just Muffin being a Muffin.
    • S2 “Library” - Stripe’s mostly to blame here for his “special” comment, but Muffin quickly adjusts when it was explained to her what “being special” to his parents mean.
    • S2 “Muffin Cone” - She’s still stubborn but learns her lesson with the cone. She’s even has a good balance of being creative enough and also open enough to listen to others’ suggestions on to find ways to play wih the cone. At the end of the episode, she even uses the cone as source of fun insead of shame.
    • S3 “Pizza Girls” - This is my favorite episode with regards to Muffin’s growth. S1 Muffin would have immediately thrown a tantrum when things don’t go her way, but S3 Muffin is open to playing different roles to get the play going.
    • S3 “Granny Mobile” - She already has a good grasp of the difference in “play” and “reality” as she had time to reflect that “Grouchy Granny” might be too grouchy.
