A guy I used to work with was convinced the whole thing was a scam. “Did his own research” and determined that all he needed was the console to upgrade his Wii. So he bought one secondhand. For his kids. Didn’t quite work out the way he had hoped. Eventually broke down and bought the pad etc.
He was not the brightest bulb, just the type to think of himself as such.
Counter-counter-counterpoint: I didn’t read the entry. >_>
Counterpoint: intelligent life finds the wreckage a million years from now and gets the answer earth folks have been searching for: there’s other life out there.
Counter-counterpoint: the planet is seeded with earth microbes that out compete native cooperative microbes, preemptively replacing a future utopia with earth’s particular brand of bullshit.
This is an interesting move. My takeaway from Freedom was that it was the most Seed thing ever (for good or ill), and a nice send off for CE. I’m not sure how they can top it with a prequel, but I’m willing to give it a shot. Metaverse aside, Gundam has been on a freaking roll.

Huh, I thought this form factor only came in faux wood grain.
Wonder how long they’ll stay “friends” once they’re locked in with the obnoxious rich fucks 24/7/365.
Many instances have domain names that look invalid and/or like scam sites to non-techies. Dot world? Dot social? Dot [obscure country TLD]? There’s also no guarantees that the domain will indicate that it’s a Lemmy site. Both of these become problematic with sharing, as the default (? been a while since I’ve used the web interface) share function links to the poster’s instance and not the community instance. A year and a half ago, the shared links section in my messenger was mostly a Reddit flood. Today, it looks like someone spilled alphabet soup.
For seeing, duh.
As someone once said, we are the monkeys, and one of us has already produced the works of Shakespeare.
My mom was disappointed when I said I didn’t want any of my dad’s things when he died last year. Hell, I hated turning some of it down. And I’m not taking any of her stuff, either. I’m really not into the “50+ years of cigarettes” aesthetic.
I’m pretty sure my baseline cortisol levels could kill a small animal. And probably shortened my lifespan by a few years.
My AuDHD is flavored by several varieties of anxiety and crippling depression, the former undiagnosed for most of my life and the latter two only being treated sporadically. I’ve had my episodes of shining in times of chaos (usually at work) but my brain’s go-to response is freeze.
It’s not very effective.
