no offence or anything, this is not some democracy superhero vs evil dictator doomsday show off. Its a bunch of political candidates up for election with different policies. Its really misleading and unhealthy to assume your world is doomed if the candidate you support is not going to win. Same as it is believing that if your candidate wins you somehow managed to accomplish a heroic deed. The hardened polarization of the 2 camps in the USA gets worse and worse each cycle.

I blocked like 10 communities that post US politics non stop. All with the same core message, some dont even have politics in their name. This one is called “Microblog Memes”, why do you all post the same us politics slob in here. And further, why does the machine think its worthwhile to spam lemmy of all places with this shit.

its way easier to turn off telemetry on pico and you wont have 8gb of bloatware just to use pcvr. on pico you only have to make a dummy account go online once, thats it, on meta you have to use a smartphone, turn on location, then give them your phone number to even sideload and be online to do all that. You tell me whats worse.

be warned those apps are not perfectly accurate. I used android apps that take a card as reference and also the one using iphone face scan measurements, they were 2 to 3mm wider than what my real far ipd ended up being. I even had an optometrist do multiple far ipd measurements, those lined right up with this paper method. To remove bias i also made sure to mix 10 papers at .5mm steps and checked them all.

So your optometrist is very likely correct, but the paper method is also, never trust an app.

honestly, get a pico 4, they are used 200 to 250 bucks now, a killer deal. Their OS is way less bs than meta, and the streamer for your PC is just 80mb, compared to 8 gb with the quest. It also launches you straight into steamvr. Pico just figured out how to make their os actually usable.

its not about saving corperations. When a community starts theft as you see in some us cities, it cascades to crime to other parts of the area as well, since it proves one can get away with crime. Letting people steal without repercussions hurts the citizen more than the few % of loss that the corporations will “suffer”.
