I’m actually surprised AGI isn’t better defined in the contract, or that there isn’t a burden of proof so that they can’t lie, but that was definitely on purpose. I really can’t imagine them severing that tie though; OpenAI simply isn’t financially stable enough, especially in the long term, and I’m sure they know it too.

This is a very good point. It makes me a bit uneasy, even though it is still better than driverless cars. Aside from this, I also have mixed feelings about the fact that every pound being put into development and purchasing of these busses could have been put into the expansion of existing routes…
And it’s not even something that would drastically improve my experience if it was fully successful. Busses are already one of the safest modes, being safer than trains in several countries. Maybe I’ve missed something and someone can correct me, but this feels like throwing money at technology for technology’s sake.

I mean… a form of Microsoft Defender is available for Linux, but only for enterprise customers if I remember correctly 😅

I’m nervous about where this will head. There is just so much potential for abuse, from hackers that just want money to state actors to oppressive regimes. Yes the data is local, but the way it’s summarized, pre-classified and apparently nowhere near adequately filtered opens so many potential vectors. And Microsoft seem still adamant about pushing this :/

I mean… yeah. I’m not in the USA and I will probably also feel the effects of whatever tariffs are placed. It seems like he’s already preparing excuses for when things don’t pan out. (Not to mention the immigration issue and so on)

I really wonder what the state of OpenAI will be in five years. They really don’t have a proper business model (or at the very least a functional one), and it doesn’t seem like they will have one. Will Microsoft fully buy them out? It seems like the only way to make “AI” profitable is to make it a selling point on products that would have otherwise already had large profit margins.

I will never understand why this place is idolized by so many people…

I’m kind of shocked something like this could even happen. At the very least it’s a lesson in sanitization I suppose.

Someone more versed in political science than I can correct me here, but I’m pretty sure direct democracy and true democracy would be synonyms. But that doesn’t mean there wouldn’t still be a need to fight back against antidemocratic forces. In any system where the laws can change, so too can the holders of power, and people are very capable of voting against their self interest. Complacency is, unfortunately, never an option.
