Hey there! I am a science/technology enthusiast and regular contributor to Wikipedia. Elsewhere you may find me with the @JackFromWisconsin@wikis.world handle.
Love that you are continuing boost for Lemmy! Great work

Good stuff! Thanks for all that you guys do for Lemmy and the open internet
Absolute Bullshit. The closure of the branch campuses, which bring the UW to rural Wisconsin, is a failure on the state and on the Universities of Wisconsin (formerly UW System). Thousands of students across wisconsin would not get the life-changing, fulfilling, career-opening education they fucking deserve if all of these branch campuses close.
What is next after the rest of the UW branch campuses close? Bye-bye UW Parkside? UW Superior? UW Platteville?
We can fund these colleges, we just haven’t been. It is about god-damn time that our legislature has a spine and promises to fund these colleges, and to re-open the closed ones, for the future. While you’re at it, make tuition free at these colleges. The state has more than enough money. Help those who need it.
I have never used amazon, much less paid for a subscription service for the pleasure of using it. I was hoping that the author atleast stopped using amazon alltogether. Ah well. Little victories I guess.
There’s a way to embed a map in the article itself. See page for information on how to do that.
Otherwise I am unaware of a tool that allows for a PNG or SVG export or OSM data.

I just realized FF didn’t have a built in translator a week ago. Excited to see it come!
You’re right. Here’s the archive link: https://archive.ph/kXZft
They go to nearly everyone.
If I on instance a report a post on instance b made by a user on instance c, all three instances’ admins will receive the report, as well as the community on instance b.
It’s kind of a mess, and definitely overkill.
I got by for a long time using a YouTube playlist and Vanced. Might want to look into YouTube Revanced, it’s a patch for the YT app that deletes ads and adds some extra features.
It looks like someone posted a bunch of posts (all at once) to the !gundeals community. Its not ads, just an individual posting a bit too much.
Both. Downvotes aren’t taken into account for all beehaw posts and comments. Even if someone downvotes a beehaw post from another instance, it just won’t send.
This shit is why we need a Right to Privacy. Every person should have the right to be private from the eyes of the state. Our (American) constitution forbids the state from unwarranted search and seizure, quartering of troops, enacting or dictating religion, censoring your speech and expression, and stopping peaceful assemblies.
Instead of saying “Privacy is sacred”, we have a mess of individual rights, which when taken together, spell out a right to privacy. We need to fix this mess, because the bandaid of the courts can’t and won’t.

While we’re at it, ban SUVs and Light Trucks, by making a separate licence for them. If you need one for work? Or for personal use? Get a license that proves you know how to use one.
SUVs and Light trucks have done so much damage to our society: both by being dangerous as fuck, and in the insane amounts of pollution that emit. It’s about time the United States, and any other country that hasn’t yet, apply bandage to the wound. Slow the bleeding. Then the healing can begin.
That’s right. !Gaming@lemmy.ml is different from !Gaming@beehaw.org
Note that you can use your same account to subscribe to both of them, as one may be more active than the other. Feel free to pick one or both it doesn’t really matter. Different websites/servers have slightly different rules and different culture, so the posts and comments will be slightly different community to community.
Not quite. An upvote on Lemmy is a favorite on mastodon. However, all posts on Lemmy look like they are a “boost” by the community when viewing from mastodon.
