Major corporations and global companies no longer really care about nation states or nationalities any more. All they care about is making money and they don’t follow any ethics when it comes to that.

If you push them in one way or another … they just shift responsibility, change a name, change a direction, change a shell company and move stuff around, tell everyone they’ve changed and continue with business as usual in whatever way they please.

They can circumvent any national law for and from one country to another … they can do one thing in one country that can’t be done in another and vice versa and if they get stuck, they just call up international law litigate and get business done anyway.

It’s getting to the point where nations no longer matter much any more … it’s the corporations that have all the power and control.

What? … what’s that? … wait … let me buy the ‘listening app’ for $3.99 monthly subscription first … oh yeah, now I hear you … yeah, feels shitty being a product … oh wait … now I have to buy the $5.99 one time payment app ‘thoughts and feelings’ … there, now I feel I can feel it … yeah … feels shitty

Didn’t the world fight a world war to stop this kind of government from taking full control over a people?

I had to do a double take a few times on my news feed as weird things like wild fires and air plane crashes were being reported in Ontario … California!

And if you had also ordered the ‘X-Ray Glasses’ … you’d be able to lie in bed at night and see right through your roof to keep on eye out for any falling meteorites

Yeah … I keep imagining this one for all of humanity.

One moment, we’re having our usual run of the mill day, everything is either going good or going bad, we’re all worried about the economy, billionaires flying around in their private jets, some poor kid is stealing oranges from the market, you’re scrolling through some social media feed … then BAMMMM!

Either one of two things happen to you.

You either get terribly unwell and die immediately or things fall apart around you, hurricane winds, things going crazy and then you die soon after.

Or

You’re online and the internet goes screwy … things aren’t working right, then in an hour, most of the internet is gone. You turn on cable tv but most of the channels are now gone. You see one or two emergency channels and they’re all talking about some ‘event’ that happened somewhere far away. Then most tv everywhere goes down too. There are rumours everywhere of Russians have launched nuclear weapons, world war three has started, aliens have landed, Jesus has come back, Armageddon has started … and then hurricane force winds start blowing everywhere … things are just tossed around and you either die in the mix or you are one of the lucky ones who happen to be underground … you won’t last a few days and then you die soon after anyway.

Random Gamma Ray Burst has directly hit the planet earth … it irradiates half the planet where it hit head on, vapourizing the atmosphere and causing violent weather changes and the radiation either immediately killing or slowly sickening every living thing until it all dies including all animals, most fish near the surface, plants and humans … the other half of the planet didn’t get hit by the radiation but now survives just a little longer as half the planet tries to equalize with the other destroyed half.

It’s theorized that this is one of the probable causes of several unexplained extinction events in earth’s geologic history. And if it ever happened now, we’d have no warning … and even if we did … we wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.

In order to fail, you first have to achieve something … and in terms of the wider universe and our planet … humanity has only just started

It’s always the little details that make these images impressive … anyone can just cut and paste an object into an image and it doesn’t look real

But add in details like lighting, shadows, smoke, mist, water, reflections … and you make all those shadows and reflections plausible and at the appropriate angles … very subtle additions and it makes it very convincing.

This is exactly how I think humanity will play out the climate crisis … ‘let’s maintain the economy and wealth of a handful of people, let the majority die, let the population go down and everything will eventually equalize and normalize after millions die off’

So, if you aren’t wealthy now … you’ll be dead soon

Don’t exist until they’re gone … I’m a middle child in a family of eight … mom kept an eye on the baby and the oldest … as long as there was six in the middle, no one really cared who they were until that number of middle children decreased.

Also … the most valuable content I find or want online for my own uses is all text based … reading blogs, forums, news sites, articles, creative writing, wikipedia

I really don’t care about design or flashy lights and pictures … I just want to read the news

I often just toggle the read only view as soon as I find something I want to read and seldom care about what a site looks like … on the other side of that … if the site is so messed up or controlling that it refuses reader view … I skip it and move on

No matter what food I buy … even if it says ‘natural’ or ‘fresh’ or ‘organic’ … I still read the label and ingredient list before buying anything

Don’t change the logo … just keep it as is … I identify the app more for the app than for the site it was associated with … I associate Sync with Sync … I don’t associate it with reddit, lemmy, kbin or anything … I just associate it with Sync which makes the most sense to me

That logo only means Sync to me … and as an app I think it should remain that way

I remember reading once that eating insects would be more efficient than eating beef or meat from larger animals. We can harvest from large animals about 60 to 70 percent of their mass as protein … if we did the same for insects, over 90 percent of their mass would be protein.
