I was thinking about this today, but I never thought I’d be living through, what I think of, as a major world event. This isn’t a world War (in name), but the history books WILL likely bring up this period on the States. In what manner they’re mentioned, good, bad, or indifferent, is yet to be seen. I imagine grandkids being bewildered when I tell them I lived through this… hopefully.

The SD card is actually a very simple replacement. A few screws and the back plate comes off, then the card reader is a separate board. Ifixit places it at a 10 minute fix. No soldering, no replacing thermal paste. Assuming it’s just the reader and not something in the software, $20 and it’s fixed.

Oh yeah. Got that installed. Was fun because I hadn’t worked with Linux systems before, so finding the proper file locations was a little challenging for myself. Custom characters have post-its and I don’t get the big banner saying it was installed wrong. Even messed with performance settings the deck offers for each game and lowered those since, well, Isaac isn’t exactly the pinnacle of graphics. Even now, just custom characters, alt paths and their additional effects (rain drops, ash, etc) tanks my performance. Unless there’s some magic that I’m not seeing, I’ve tried what I know. It is a little annoying when games that have actual models, and a lot of them at once, don’t have issues at all (Deep Rock Galactic Survivor being a prime example).

I’m in Washington state. Before spring, we were told that we were in a drought due to low snow accumulation. Entire summer had fewer than 5 decent rain falls. I live in a rural area, and the risk of fire terrifies me.

FF will NOT run on my deck very well. Not even moving in the spawn room lowers me to low 50’s FPS. It’s a real shame, too.
I “beat” isaac on the Switch (one Dead God), then got it all again for the Steam Deck so I could have mods. Unsure if the mods themselves are tanking the performance, but I don’t really care. It’s up there as one of my favorite games. The creativity of the mod creators has kept me coming back to play custom characters and challenges.
Yeah, gotta say that’s unfortunate. The event should have MM. Makes it a lot easier to play the event. FF is about the least they could do. It’s matchmaking with extra steps. Most people, I feel, aren’t going to be elitist for lost sectors. Raids and GM’s, sure.
I almost feel like the MM is unintended, unless I didn’t see a post from Bungie on the matter. I know people were getting around it by using “Free Roam” and “The Moon” or whatever the LS was for the day. The only reason I think it could be unintended is the fact that there is an “Event” option under “Episodic”. I believe MOST things should have MM, and expert Haunted LS are definitely up there. They’re are some things in this game that you don’t really want MM for, but those are usually end game, like raids, master dungeons, and some GM’s. There isn’t any reason the event shouldn’t have it, considering each lost sector isn’t even a pass/fail activity. If you actually wanted to farm efficiently, Fireteam Finder should be available. But basic completion, like the event challenge asks, could easily be match made.
Besides the MM, I feel like the ornaments are top notch. All the FotL ones seem to have so much more effort and fun in them. Along with the seasonal set and ones that were datamined early, this is a strong contender for cosmetic options. One where I actually might end up spending money for silver for the first time in a LONG time.
