  • I have, but that has nothing to do with my previous comment. My friend, your original post (that you have now edited, don’t move the goalposts just because you want to fight) made broad generalizations. My comment was an attempt to help you learn how to reflect and be critical about your beliefs: I thought that might be something a user with the name “open_mind” would appreciate. Fuck me, right? Well done on showing everyone what an open mind you have. Learn how to question yourself when you feel like fighting and spreading negativity. Just because others didn’t react the way you expected doesn’t make them wrong or bad, and being a dick to someone who was trying to have a constructive conversation is spreading negativity–what you were originally complaining about.

  • We cannot eliminate it: we can only learn how to best live with it. Completely denying the primate part of ourselves only makes it more likely to lash out in ways we don’t want it to, and it can be kind and loving and good if properly cared for. I completely get where you are coming from, and for a long time I tried to deny the primal part of myself, but I just got sick.

I guess what I am trying to say is that if we want to live with conflict, lust, and overcoming terrible odds, trying to eliminate the primate within us isn’t going to accomplish that.

  • Just like the primate you are, always jumping the gun!

But, yes, so much in the world today can be understood as our technological ability outstripping evolution. Our brains will look at a picture and feel the same feeling as if it was actually there. It is actually kind of amazing there isn’t more insanity around when you think about it.
