Yup, we had an active and chill daily thread on reddit, but after pigboy pulled his bullshit we decided to move. Users specifically also reached out to regulars still on reddit to tell them where we all went
Banning all self promotion is usually done not to play favourites. It gets tiring being a gatekeeper so you just remove that variable. Mods should have been shepherding communities to alternative and open platforms themselves though.

Indeed. I’m still regularly fighting with a country mod team because even though we offered them to because admins on our Lemmy communities, they still didn’t want to allow a single post about it. Ironically enough, they did the API 2023 strike, but it seems like they were never really interested in an actual alternative.
I just asked them, seems like it was an existing community which decided to move to Lemmy together: https://sopuli.xyz/comment/12730059
Makes you wonder what could have happened if most of the mods on Reddit hadn’t blocked all similar attempts under the excuse of “self-promotion”

I’m going to interpret this literally. Give them a dig from me!
Well, as you know with Reddit, it’s mostly them telling me they make the rules, and me just trying to argue back while not getting banned
Really miss !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com in this case
We know what would have happened. /c/piracy is thriving
Definitely
