The falun gong are major funders of fascism worldwide.

They bought more pro-trump facebook ads in 2016 than anyone except the trump campaign itself.

The buy a lot of ads for victor orban and other european far right figures.

[–] chicken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is that supposed to make this practice less horrifying

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's meant to urge caution. Falun gong are an oppressed, openly fascist cult who will earnestly tell you that their leaders have mastered levitation. They are not honest or credible.

They have definitely faced repression by the chinese state but large scale organ harvesting on demand is cartoonish supervillainy that stretches believablity.

Ah, fair enough, I guess whether this is actually happening is a disputed point. Still, from the article it seems like it is not that much of a stretch from what apparently is not disputed about China's organ transplant practices, which is that there is a lot of organ transplanting going on in China despite a culturally driven absence of voluntary donations, a legalized practice of using the organs of executed prisoners which is officially acknowledged as the primary source of organs, and a market driven method for obtaining them with little accountability.

The commercial trade in human organs has also been a lucrative source of revenue for the Chinese medical, military and public security establishments.[26][27] Because there is no effective nationwide organ donation or allocation system, hospitals source organs from local brokers, including through their connections to courts, detention centers and prisons.[28]

If it's true that people with the authority to execute prisoners can easily get money by selling their body parts, and there isn't much oversight, it seems like a natural consequence that they might let financial considerations influence when and maybe even whether to kill these prisoners.

That Wikipedia page reads like it's been heavily edited by falun gong folks. Most of the references supporting their arguments come from their own sources or the hilariously named "Victims of Communism Memorial Fund", a right wing US propaganda outlet that is as credible as its name suggests.

But most of the claims I'm talking about, which aren't specifically about Falun Gong, seem to be sourced from more mainstream sources, and are mostly based on official statements by the Chinese government.

Okay, so what?

Nazis have human rights, despite arguing against the human rights of other people.

This is very much a whataboutism argument; you're redirecting credible and at least partially verified claims about China's misconduct back onto the victims of their misconduct.

If you aren't already aware, the Falun Gong are a cult. Like a true proper cult. I would not take their word on this one, especially considering their associates.

No he's actually right about this one, I had to check

[–] BonerMan@ani.social 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Them being fanatics doesn't make China executing people for organ harvesting on demand anything more OK and this information was rumored way before that statemen, even with HK Protesters.

The .ml troll is wanting to discredit the backed allegations of this.

[–] communist@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nobody said it makes it okay to do that, but that does thoroughly discredit this particular source, quite obviously

[–] BonerMan@ani.social -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not really, even fanatics can tell the truth about oppression.

[–] communist@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

...can anything discredit a source more than what I linked??

"Led by Li Hongzhi, who is viewed by adherents as a deity-like figure, Falun Gong practitioners operate a variety of organizations in the United States and elsewhere, including the dance troupe Shen Yun.[14][15] They are known for their opposition to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), espousing anti-evolutionary views, opposition to homosexuality and feminism, and rejection of modern medicine, among other views described as "ultra-conservative".[16][24]"

of course it's possible, but they have no credibility at all

[–] BonerMan@ani.social 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It obviously makes them look like clowns, wich they are, however in the great scheme of thing's regarding China this claim fits not just right in but also is backed by several other things like that China is testing drugs and possibly bio weapons in their concentration camps

[–] FlorianSimon@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Who's the crazy conspiracy theorist now? Jeez...

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The first-hand account from a nurse who assisted with forced harvesting of organs from a uyghur prisoner (before escaping the country) is harrowing. The point she describes when the prisoner realizes they're moving into both eyes next was truly horric to imagine.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 8 points 2 weeks ago

Why is the person conscious during organ removal? That's yet more cartoonish supervillainy that does not sound credible to me.

[–] random@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

nooo, that's western propaganda, china is a perfect communist utopia!!!!
