Ugh. And here I was hoping they’d bring back the rest of their systems online soon, but it seems like their security is in shambles and we may be looking at a few months until IA is fully back online.
Somebody is really working OT on hurting IA.
some haters be paying to bring it down
I’m just worried that whoever has control will have some devious thoughts and just start misleading people into thinking they can’t get accounts back or they might’ve deleted it. Something. I’m really concerned about these turn of events for IA right now.
They could just decide one day to delete everything if they want to, if they feel what they have is not valuable enough from the previous breach.
Relying on IA as the sole internet library was bound to create problems.
There need to be other entities doing this work independently of one another. Like municipal libraries.
I agree, losing it would feel like losing the library of Alexandria. We do need more doing this!
It’s too bad that furry hacker group disbanded because I’d LOVE to see a group like them dox the people behind screwing over The Internet Archive.
Whoever targeting IA is obviously despicable. But sounds like infosec at IA is an absolute shit show…
Infosec is an absolute shitshow everywhere to be honest.
I’d not be surprised if these attacks were linked to the recent lawsuits IA had to go through concerning copyright and such…
I would.
Companies generally don’t fuck with the law on that level.
