Hear me out, Bixby button was used to launch Samsung’s personal assistant Bixby. This button is used to launch Siri. Then the button was mended to add further capabilities of launching other apps or phone functions.

The action button was never to lunch Siri. Holding the side button already does that.

This one was always designed to be programmable and by default does the same thing as the current mute switch.

This button replaces the mute button, the action button which summons siri is a different one….

    Nice try.

No more mute switch no. Now it’s a button that you can program to do pretty much anything.

The default is still toggle silent mode though like the switch.

            Yeah I will miss it.

When mine gets here I’ll have to play around with it but from what I’ve seen you can only program it to do one thing at a time, which is a bummer.

It would be nice if they went with like a single tap to toggle mute, and a long press to do your programmed action.

Well that’s disappointing. So not only do you lose a useful switch, you completely lose mute functionality if you use the button for something else?

Only way to be sure is when the phone is actually released but from what I understood from the keynote. Long hold is mute button and pressing the button is programmable.

They’ll just put the mute function in the control center if you’re using the button for something else.

For some. To be completely honest I never use it, I have focus set up for various locations to control stuff like that, I just block most calls when I’m At work for example. I’m sure they’ll add mute as a focus setting.

It is unpopular because it is completely different™ just like USB-C is completely different™.

Forcing Apple to use USB-C is against innovation but now it’s an innovative port.

Bigger screens are not for iPhone except for when it is.

        It’s unpopular because it’s wrong.

And USB-C was forced on them by the EU, they never claimed it was innovative or different, just that you could use the same cable on all devices now.

Dunk on Apple all you want, but at least do it with factual quips instead of manufactured outrage.

No, no, it’s completely different. Would you watch Harrison Ford age backwards in a Benjamin Bixby movie, or would you rather see a de-aged Harrison Ford in the latest ACTION movie?

Exactly. Read an article raving about it. You can do it using iftt. Tap the back off phone and set up what that does.

Can’t you set up what volume rocker does
