Our second cat, Riku, was a street-cat before he went into the shelter system, we’re almost certain.

For example, when we first got him he was afraid of rooms with tall ceilings - being out in the open was dangerous in his experience.

He was also very obviously dealing with food insecurity. He was mildly aggressive towards anyone coming near his food. We also had to get an RFID-activated feeder for the other cat because she grazes throughout the day and he would eat whatever was left out. He always finished every meal, no matter what.

But just recently, he’s started leaving himself a snack for later. He’s finally confident enough about his food to leave some out. He knows it well be there, and there will be more later.

Warms my heart

@LittleTownJane@mas.to We got him about 3 years ago. He knew when meal time was, but definitely felt like he had to come and tell us or it wouldn’t happen haha.

Riku had a very similar box he stayed in almost all the time. Now he uses it exclusively as a scratching post :NyanPff:
