Big brain tech dude got yet another clueless take over at HackerNews etc? Here's the place to vent. Orange site, VC foolishness, all welcome.

why.. did you.. screenshot.. the post.. with a bunch of text blacked out.. ?

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Because it still reads correctly with the blacked out bits, it just reads more honestly about how little Microsoft gives a fuck about hydrocarbons, climate, change, or any future that isn't "Microsoft owns everything."

Wrote how Microsoft committed to carbon reduction goals - except all their AI compute would completely blow all their numbers.

Then there's Microsoft's customers, they're marketing AI to the fossil fuel companies as a "powerful tool for finding and developing new oil and gas reserves and maximizing their production."

Microsoft thinks fossil fuels are a market opportunity of $35 billion to $75 billion, especially as the oil and gas industry is turning to Microsoft for guidance.

It's OK -- the problems being caused by AI will be fixed with more AI.

Good question, first I didn't screenshot the entire post, the purpose was it's to narrow it down to the point that I wanted to highlight, and it's more likely to be a fair use if I commentat it and contain less of the content. For the full content you should view the actual article.
