Looking to get a new laptop and this is what I’m thinking about.

Also do they overheat quickly?

what kind of editing jobs? my ideapad is reasonably new and can export 1080p re-encodes or clips in shotcut quite quickly, but if I add video filters it slows right down. i have a couple of older thinkpads (gen 2 ryzen + an older i7 model) and they’re slower.

keep in mind video editing tools are not that great at utilising discrete gpus on linux generally so in my case its best to select for a good cpu

it overheats in the sense that it gets hot but doesn’t throttle or shut down, not a big deal if you use it on a lap desk or other flat surface

I’d recommend a refurbished macbook pro instead. Getting one with an m2 pro chip would be ideal. Overheating is not a concern.
