Mauro Ranallo is returning to pro wrestling.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Scott D’Amore revealed that Mauro Ranallo would be the announcer for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.
“Mauro Ranallo has agreed to be the voice of Maple Leaf Pro. He’s the man. Mauro has passion for wrestling. I’m so stoked and so honored. The fact that he’s willing to say, ‘Yeah, I want to be part of this,’ to me, is unbelievable. He’s the man. He’s so good,” said D’Amore.
D’Amore praised Mauro for his preparation and passion after making the announcement.
Mauro was the announcer for NJPW in the US in 2015 before joining WWE and working on SmackDown and NXT. He called the AEW Title vs. IMPACT Title match between Kenny Omega and Rich Swann at IMPACT Rebellion in 2020.
Mauro is best known for calling major MMA and boxing events, including Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather.
Good for him. Glad he has recovered from his time in WWE.
I wonder how much of the problems he had with WWE came down to Vince.
Probably a big chunk him, and then JBL pushing him over the edge.
I had forgotten about all the stuff with JBL, good point.
