Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

  • 1 ½ oz mezcal Cupreata
  • ¾ oz sloe gin
  • ¾ oz Cynar

Stir with ice and strain into a Nick & Nora glass.

On the tin, it seems like this would be way too much, between the aggressive smokiness of the mezcal and the herbal bitterness of the Cynar, but the fruit in the slow gin is enough to balance all that out. It’s still pretty spirit-forward, but super palatable.

I love this sub and all the interesting drinks, but I'm realizing I'm fucking basic bitch when it comes to drinks. You guys with ingredients in your home bar that I've never even heard of... I'm still here subbing scotch and bourbon back and forth based on what I'm currently out of.

Hey, if you like what you’re drinking you’re doing it right!

It took a loooooong time to accumulate the collection I have, it's really just built up by buying one interesting or different thing whenever I go to buy tequila or bourbon (our staples) and that stuff gets used more slowly so doesn't need replaced often, and over time you figure out what you like.

I'm not a novice; that's what kills me. I had a 21 year Glenfiddich that I loved and only drank neat. Lasted most of a year. I experiment but like decent bourbons like Basil Hayden. Wine cask Basil Hayden was so good for sipping.

Anyway this feels like I'm bitching but that isn't my intent. I wouldn't want to stifle the creativity here, but holy shit you guys are next level to me. I thought I was sophisticated for not drinking Jack Daniel's or Jim Beam. Nope! You guys are awesome.

I wouldn't have room for all that anyway.
