I have grown to like the Ruri/Maeda dynamic. It’s kind of nice to have a character that isn’t afraid to throw around cutting remarks, but…out of love, to keep the others grounded.
It’s still not what I’d consider mature… I think Maeda thought Ruri was cool af from the start, but self sabotaged her chances of a relationship out of self-loathing/confidence issues. Then gaslit herself into believing Ruri isn’t worth knowing by blowing some of her flaws out of proportion, so she wouldn’t feel as bad about her with a “not like I wanna be her friend anyway”.
Either way Maeda has been a fun wrench in Ruri’s everyday life, and she’s got tons of room to improve as a person.
Starting to think Maeda’s love-language is literally just shit-talking. Like little kids bullying someone they have a crush on.
