Would a vacuum extraction affect a QWISO solution? (lemmy.world)

Basically title. If I make a quick wash isopropyl alcohol (QWISO) solution, would a vacuum extraction have a meaningful effect on the resulting concentrate? I'm doubt it would have a meaningful impact in terms of flavor and terpene content, but I can see it producing an interesting consistency. The only way I could see it affecting flavor would be if the low pressure caused some volatiles to change, but I kinda doubt that. For the vacuum extraction I would probably just put it in a vacuum chamber.

You mean putting the alcohol under vacuum while washing? I tried it with cold brew a few years ago. It did speed up the infusion and I was just using a little cheapo hand vacuum lid on a mason jar. I never thought to do it with my qwet. If you try it, can you share photos? What's your vacuum chamber normally used for?

I don't have one but I'm thinking of getting one. I'm thinking of using the vacuum to evaporate the alcohol, but i like your idea as well.

I'm pretty low-tech. I used to use a food dehydrator to evaporate. Now i use an air fryer, and it's nice because I can use the dehydrate setting to cook off the alcohol and then bump up the temp to decarb.

Just pay attention that your vacuum method doesn't create a spark that lights the alcohol on fire.
