It’s always a weird day, Easter was when my family found out I had fully left the church. I remember I just said I wasn’t going that day and my mother had a meltdown, saying there was no point in celebrating if I didn’t go to church. She cancelled the family dinner and all the activities for the whole family because she found out I didn’t go.

20 years later we’re better but I still remember that, I’m willing to admit that her cancelling a holiday because of me was traumatic for me, Easter used to fill me with dread.

Now I eyeroll at every big public he is risen post and continue on with my day. Today coffee, a good pastry shop, then enjoying a nice spring day.

Eggs, bunnies, baby farm animals, and spring flowers. Spring and fertility is worth celebrating. Moral gaslighting by a zombie, not so much.

Why have I not heard about Eostre before today? Odd.

Thanks for pointing this out, I learned something today.

If for you it’s just a nice spring day, there’s nothing wrong with that. Here it’s been sleeping in and a quiet morning since there is no need to run errands.

Good on you, and me too (plus it’s my daughter’s birthday so I actually have something more to celebrate). I get the Monday off too, for some reason, which I’ll use to enjoy a nice spring day, too.

I never fully got the point of it all anyway; now as an adult it just feels like a weird fandom everyone is cultishly apart of and look down on you of you’re not into it. “The hero came back in the sequel! What a twist!”

It’s understandable that what she did was traumatic to you. That’s just unnecessary and fucked up. Like a weird guilt trip involving the whole family. Glad you aren’t dealing with that anymore.
