More terrible range estimates incoming.
Jalopnik is mostly just quoting stuff from another article that was quoting forum posts. So its basically hearsay at this point. Still, its further evidence that Cybertruck’s range is utter crap (and these original posts seem legitimate, as they originate from pro-Tesla sites).
and that shitty capacity is only going to decrease throughout the life of those batteries.
🤦🏻♂️People are so gullible.
Here are some links that further elaborate on why, more than any other car company, you shouldn’t trust Tesla’s estimates: https://www.theverge.com/2023/10/23/23928563/tesla-doj-ev-range-exaggerate-investigation

Not necessarily. There may be a software update down the line that improves it, which Tesla has done before. I think that update only added about 5% though so it doesn’t exactly look good.
Speak of the devil!
though so it doesn’t exactly look good.
They very clearly understand it’s shit. Stop acting like “gotcha gullible idiot”.
Ladies and gentlemen, the tech bro Tesla defender has logged on.
At this point, I’d call this a astroturfer brigade!
Evidently, it’s easier to create bot accounts on kbin.social.

Tesla suck

I have like 40,000 karma and thousands of posts over months, but sure I’m a Tesla bot account who was waiting for this moment to say Tesla is shit. You got me.

This post was reported, so I’ll talk about it here.

I recognize that you’ve been called a bot, and therefore you feel the need to “hit back”. That’s fine. But note that this discussion is getting too heated now and we need to take a step back and have a breather.

Further discussion in this topic will be more tightly moderated.
@demesisx@infosec.pub: Please don’t call other users bots unnecessarily. I think we’re all in agreement with the facts here. Tesla EVs can theoretically change their range with software updates, but such changes remain small and relatively unsubstantial (~5% range). Tempers have gotten testy here somehow. In my experience, its important for me to nuke discussions from orbit to stop them at this point. Please do not continue upon this insulting-path. I’m deleting many replies in this topic now to help calm things down.

How Musk is not in jail for false advertising is beyond me. Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie. What about boating? He claimed Cybertruck can be used as a boat. Stupid considering the damn thing has trouble getting up the driveway on a snowy day.
There’s redundant air lines and valves in the wheel arches which are connected to the already existing internal tyre inflation system.
I’m not a musk sympathiser, in fact I massively dislike him. I’m just telling you that this thing is designed to float eventually with some external floats.
They did it with the M551 Sheridan and that’s 15000kg
I mean, any car will float with external floats
Oh no how will i drive to the grocery store 250 miles away now
I actually live in an area where a round trip of ~650km (400 miles) every 3 months is cheaper than buying from the local chain stores.
The upcharge on my dog food alone pays for my gas ($80CAD/BAG vs $100+shipping), and the distance is why I chose a PHEV over a full electric. If I had believed Musk and gotten a top end cyber truck with its “500 mile” range, I would have gotten stranded trying to buy groceries.
And before anyone comments on the price I pay for dog food; it’s literally the only dry food I have found that doesn’t upset her stomach, and even all the raw food brands I have tried upset her stomach occasionally.
I’ve got some family out in Rural Washington State. I can believe it if you live somewhere like where my uncle lives. I only know one person in my entire social network / family / etc. etc. who lives in such a rural area though, so its pretty rare indeed. But a lot of Canadian areas are like Rural Washington State IIRC.
Grew up in Douglas county. Remember the looks we’d get buying 10 gallons of milk.
