It would be cool to see a video breakdown of how this design is supposed to work. How anyone could hit anything like that seems impossible. Lol
Looks rather simple, the gun itself doesn’t change shape, only the cover. Looks like there’s a small periscope for aiming.
It took a long time imagining it, but then I’m out of ideas why it’s not monolithic. Having two eyesights and running with a weird angled gun aren’t as a problem as servicing that thing and rely on it. But just like OP I would’ve seen a vif of how and why it’s that way.
looks like a great way to get dirt in the action
Doesn’t that thing shoot a large caliber? The kick would be awful in that position.
It shoots 30-06 which is a .30 caliber bullet. But it is a larger cartridge then most infantry rifles today. I think the recoil on the shooter wouldn’t be too bad, but it’d have a lot of muzzle climb.
And I thought the scope on that 30-06 got me good…
I bet that thing weighs 40 pounds
The original head glitch
I can guess that these are quite inaccurate, but with the massively increased protection it offers in trench warfare, I’ve always wondered why remote controlled weapons or this kind of foldable weapon with a periscope have seemingly completely disappeared?
I would imagine that mounting a machine gun on a tripod and operating it from Dow in the trench would be both simple, effective, and far safer than exposing yourself over the top.
